The Case of the Pillowcase

If you have pillows on your bed with just a pillowcase and not a sham, which way do you face the open end of the case?
Do you have them facing each other, inboard?
Or do you have them facing away from each other, towards the outer edge of the bed?
Inquiring minds want to know!

If you're going to post a BS comment, at least make it a long one so you get paid more for it!

I have to have the pillowcase ends facing the walls, I do not know why but I am a bit particular if I see them facing the other way!

So both facing in the same direction, or each towards the wall on their side?

when I pay attention to how they are being placed on the bed - they go with their opening towards the outside of the bed - away from each other.
when I place a pillow on the couch to rest my head on the pillow goes with the opening downwards seamed side at top of head - and opening going towards my mid section.

Hi there... Come to think of it, I have this habit of turning the pillows inward, once they have there pillow cases on, I turn them inwards, toward each other, this way I think its tidy and not notecible. What a peculiar question haha. Have a neat day...

Might be peculiar, but it's getting some responses and satisfying my curiosity!
Thanks for your input ...

Ok, I might be the odd one here. *LOL* I have the openings both going in the same direction. Meaning my husband's pillow, the ends go to the middle of the bed, then mine the ends are at the edge of the bed. It sort of looks like one big pillow.
What's the reason behind my insanity, I don't know. It's just the way I do it.

Chey?
Odd?
Say it isn't so!
That is a first, though. I'd never have thought anyone would do it that way.
Uncharted territory. You go girl!

It's kind of like the toilet paper debate. Do you put the roll on so the paper goes under or over? To me the important thing is to get the paper ON the roll. Same with pillowcases. As long as they are on the pillow, I don't care which way they are pointing!

Oh, I agree with that.
When I make up the bed, I put them facing out. When Tom tidies it, he puts them facing in. It doesn't really bother me and I won't change them (which is unusual, because I can be very anal about some things).

I never really thought about it but it would have to be facing inward I guess.

I just put clean linen on the bed an hour ago and I'm getting ready to crawl into it right now.

I always put two pillowcases on- in opposite directions, so that you won't be breathing in any of the pillow body or feathers. Feels much cleaner too. We do that for every bed pillows in the house. And especially for a pillows that our cats love to sleep on, we try to put on a more solid, thicker pillowcase first, and then softer outside, if they get it quite dirty. :o) And when I change pillowcases, I actually cheat and change just the top one for a couple of times.
I turn around in bed, both sides, flat on back, sprawled on stomach. But when I am most awake like to have my back on th open side.

I toss and turn I guess, though not absentmindedly. Whatever side is more comfy. Either facing the wall or facing the room. And ha ha, it also depends on where my cat is sprawled or curled up, when I am honored to have her there. ;o) Have to have my legs at the right angle and side for her to be most comfortable (and yes, she is literally in my arms (they are wrapped around her on the desk, as I type)!

Ah yes. Which way you face in the bed while sleeping.
That's a discussion for another day, my friend!

Isn't it funny how some of these little things bother us?
Maybe we should start our children out with them going one way one day and the other the next. Maybe they'll be more flexible about it as they grow up!

I think this is quite possibly the strangest question...lol. Leave it to you...
Facing away from each other towards the outer edge of the bed.

Strange?
Me?
Ha!
I could show you some questions here that are much stranger than any I would dare come up with. Most concern the bedroom, but not pillowcases.
I'm tame in comparison!

Hi Ldyjarhead - Hope you are doing well! :)
As for your question... I definitely must have the pillowcases with the opening facing out! I think it is just wrong to have them any other way... LoL! My husband sometimes puts his the other way, facing in & it drives me batty! Is there something wrong with me?!? LoL

Nope, nothing wrong with you (about pillowcases, anyway!).
I share the same opinion as you, but others like them the other way. We're all different, and I don't suppose there's a right or wrong way.

Just have one pilliow on my bed that I sleep with and it has a simple pilliow case that opens up at one end.Very simple...

Hmmm....That's a good question, because I clean other people's houses and some of them have me make their bed and I always put the open end toward the outside.
I guess that's the way they like it because they never tell me to do it differently.

That's the way I've always done it, and probably will until I no longer have a bed to make!

I have the open end faced towards the left on our queen sized bed. We have those foam funny shaped pillows and that makes it much easier since that foamed funny shaped pillow has a pillow protector and I have to know what the high side is since I have to use two pillows, one on top of the other to keep me from snoring. I give my husband two pillows, but he throws one on the floor or pushing one to the side, and he also snores.

Hi Ldyjarhead, when I did In Home Care, I made alot of beds..I would face the open end out to the edge of the bed and then fold in under...It looked really nice and I never got any complaints..
Now for my own pillows..they don't get any royal treatment...I don't even make my bed...LOL...Nobody sees my room, it is upstairs...

I don't treat mine royally, its just the way they're 'supposed to be'.
For me, of course ...

I always face mine out, I think that is how mom taught us. I really do not remember, except I know that is how I do it. That is also how it was done in the nursing home too, the open end out. When I lay them inboard, then things just do not seem to layout properly.

That's exactly the way I feel. It just looks odd to me the other way.
Nothing against others that prefer it that way, it just seems out of synch to me as I'm not used to it.
