i tend to colour my own hair nowadays as it is a lot cheaper than going to the hairdresser.if i need to get foils i will go to the local beauty colledge and get it done cheap, and also the haircut.i once paid nearly $200.00 dollars to get my hair done.well i nearly fell on the floor with that cost, and you know what,no-one even noticed.do you colour your own hair. for all those who do,tell me why there is only one glove included in the colour pack.i have one black hand and one clean hand.i guess i am not that clever.lol.cheers sue

I have always done my own hair, I not only dye it myself, I cut it myself too! Simply because I have never found a hairdresser who has done what I wanted and how I wanted it. It was easier to do it myself because then if I do it wrong I can only be angry at myself! My hair though now has grown really long and I am sick of it, plus I have a young daughter who is coming to the age that she will need her first hair cut. So I guess I am just going to have to try and find a decent hairdresser! I do not know why you only get one glove in your hair colour packs I always get 2!

maybe i was just unlucky to only get one glove in this packet of hair dye,its good that you can cut your own hair.i tried that once and in the end my daughter finished it off,and she really did a good job,so maybe that will be her profession.good luck with finding a good hairdresser.cheers sue

its really cheaper if you do it yourself. my mom & sis are fond of hair coloring, they color each others hair. i also want to do it myself, but when i tried straightening my hair a year ago, some of my top hair fell off! i was rinsing after the procedure and hair keeps falling. it was really scary, i was crying i thought i was gonna go bald. so, i vowed from that day forward that i'll leave it to the experts..:)

I have had my hair done and done it myself, but it has been a few years since I have colored my hair. Though gray is starting to show now, I am due to have it colored soon. I am fortunate to have a hair dresser as a neighbor and therefore don't ever have to pay those outrageous salon prices.

make sure you keep the neighbour on your good books,as it is great to get professional hair treatments a lot cheaper as you say than the outrageous price that salons charge.yes my grey is starting to come trough also and i really need to keep that colour in there.cheers sue

$200,amazing amount,i wonder which country are you in? in china,$20 is enough to pay a haircut which is a little complex.frankly speaking,i never coloured my hair to other cilours, coz i love the original black hair.i think none can be better and more suitable for me.

i live in australia and depending on where you go and how upmarket the salon is,depends on how much they charge.that price was for a cut, colour and foils,it was definately the last time i will go to that salon.cheers sue

yes i will go to the hairdresser for higlights or foils as i am no good at doing that,i end up just making a mess.the colledge is good and cheap for foils, and the students need to learn,so that is a cheap alternative.cheers sue

I would do the colouring mself as it's far more cheaper than going to a salon. It's interesting that you only get "one" glove pack, I think you should go back to the shop and ask for a replacement. I've been using Loreal which gives pretty good result :)

I color my own hair, and I color it quite often because the hair coloring I use is the only stuff that keeps my Eczema in check.

I am the sort of person who would tend to colour my hair experimentally for style. But eversince, I've never tried colouring my hair myself. Its just the fact that in one way or another if you dont get it right, your hair is screwed lol. I leave it to the hairdresser's, but you're right nothing is cheap nowadays. Since my last haircut and colour, I had the courage to buy a haircutting-kit, and have managed to cut my hair good. But colouring... I don't why I'm scared of colour than cutting. It's weird lol

My sister in law was the who colored mine and I'm the who color hers too. It's really expensive to go to a salon so we decided to color our own hairs. We experiment too by combining two to three color, we do highlight also our hair and it turn nice. There are one glove only per box so we is we buy another glove and we make sure we this tiny comb and a little brush old toothbrush will do. We use shower net also so we did it clean and not messy our hands. Enjoy posting!!!!!

I've only had mine done professionally a few times and it is just too expensive. I can't even afford to get it cut anymore, much less the extra stuff. I've been doing my own for years, but haven't done it in about two months. My hair grows very fast and I'm debating just letting it grow out and leave the gray. It looks like crap now but I don't get out of the house much anyway, so now would be a good time to let it go I guess. I usually have to do it every month.

don't let it go,just get the cheap brands.i don't know if you have a aldi store near you,but i picked up the hair dye for around $6.00.i don't go out anywhere besides work, but i felt a million dollars and look about 10 years younger( i wish )after i put my colour in.so treat yourself.cheers sue

It's not just the cost, it's the whole hassle of having to do it and it looking nasty as it starts to grow out. I just don't want to deal with it anymore. If I could die it all gray now and get it over with, I would!

I often colour hair for my mom,but i still dirty my hand,my mom's ear and neckle until now after I colour my mon's hair.:) My own always keep long hair because I love it.So when my hair is longer than my desired length,I will ask for my mom to cut it for me.I seldom colour my hair only when I go to hair parlor to perm it.

i agree with ivady,it is easy and you just follow the instructions on the box.just go into the shops one day and have a look at all the different boxes of dyes etc,and take a while to read the instructions on the box.really if something bad happens just go to the hairdresser and they will fix it up for you.i have never ahd a problem with dyes.cheers sue

I have only had my hair colored by a hair dresser a couple times. It was to expensive for me. I do it myself every 4 or 5 weeks. It is easy any more, just follow the instructions on the box.

i think that if you colour your hair often you would need to have treatments to keep your hair healthy.i love to have a treatment, the oil treatment is nice and leaves your hair in good condition.cheers sue

I don't color my own hair. I usually go to the salon. In our country, having a hair color costs at least 15 US dollars. It is much cheaper and convenient to go to the salon than doing it yourself. Sometimes, you get a free haircut when you have your hair colored.

I colored my own hair once thinking that I would be able to save money but it turned out to be different. I ended up going to the salone as well to have it fixed. There was one time that I thought that I would give it a a try to color my hair. Why not , I said to myself, it is not that complicated. I bought the kit and followed the instructions. I guess , I just did not do it properly because when it dried up, the color is not even, some hair sections are colored and some are not. I have no choice but to go to the salon to have it fixed because it don't look good and it is noticeable. I seldom color my hair, but I see to it that I have it done at the salon.
