There is a theory out there that comedy is easier than drama. That is so not true but The Academy who awards Oscars seem to believe it. There are only a few actors that were in comedies that have Oscars and there have been only 6 comedies that won best picture and 2 of them were comedy/dramas, a film that is equal parts of comedy and drama, and one was a romantic comedy.
ps. Here is the list of Comedies that have won best picture. It Happened One Night 1934,You Can't Take It With You 1938,The Apartment 1960, a drama/comedy,Tom Jones 1963,Shakespeare In Love 1998, a romantic Comedy, and American Beauty 1999, anothe drama /comedy.

I agree. The list I found called Shakespeare In Love a romantic comedy and American Beauty as a comedy/drama.I see American Beauty as a drama with some comedic parts. I only saw a little of Shakespeare in Love so I am not sure if it is a romantic comedy or not.

ha ha ha ha ha... you are not alone in that train of thought.
I sometimes try to get those movies with lots of awards. I ended up not understanding the movie at all. Even after watching the same movie again a few times, I still cannot get the heads or tails of it.
Turn around, when I watch some comedy shows, it was so much better.
I guess I am not one of those... erm... artsy movie goer.
