What kinds of reading material (if any) are appropriate to keep in your bathroom?

We usually keep a couple of magazines in the bathroom, like readers digest, and newsweek.

Actually i think short stories or articles would probably be good to entertain but not give incentive to stay forever.

Ya know, since my parents use our public bathroom, I really think that would be a bad idea (adding Penthouse to it).

I don't keep anything in the bathroom to read. there are six people in my home so you go in and you get out otherwise someone will be beating on the door.

I think that reading while taking a dump is distracting...I think it takes longer to do what you have to do....My bf is in there at least 3 times every morning and sometimes i have to tell him to hurry up because I need to use it! He has his diving magazine...playboy...newspaper, or just adds that he looks at! It's so annoying..I don't know any women that have reading material in there bathroom for their use!

That's how I felt about it originally too, which is why I started the discussion on here. At this point I'm not sure if it really matters (since we have two restrooms). I was also curious abotu what a "Ms. Manners" person would say.

We keep a magazine rack in our bathroom where my husband keeps his reading material. I ususally take the book I'm reading with me. I have a cute little story about bathroom reading. My son has always been a bathroom reader, so I have given him a couple of Uncle John's Bathroom Readers to keep in his bathroom. He reads them avidly because they contain so much interesting information. He said that one day in one of his college classes the professor asked an obscure question that no one could answer except my son. The professor looked at him amazed and asked him where he had gotten his information. The whole class got a good laugh when my son told them he'd read it in a bathroom reader.

My mother-in-law confirms the story that my husband used to bring his encyclopedias into the bathroom with him. He is the smartest person I know. Not like MIT science smart, but he knows just random things. He could win lots of money on Jeopordy....so tell your son to keep reading!!

That seems like a decent idea to me who doesn't like having books in the bathroom.

Maybe people should put a computer in the bathroom instead? That way people can continue their games and chats and not have to keep holding it just to get to a good stopping point. Okay, just kidding!

Little things with interesting facts then. Maybe I could do a basket on top of the toilet with small classical books in it.

Well, I would think like Good Housekeeping, or Sports Illustrated. Something that you would not be Embarrased for others to see if they use your restroom for sure.

Maybe I should just get Time and National Geographic. Those seem to be the most popular magazines. But I'm not sure magazines are the bes tat all actually...

Keep good reading material in the bathroom. It is advised to keep house keeping magazines, body building or even automart mags. Obscene materials can be an imbarrassment if your guest needs to use the loo. What of the children if any????????

Ew, housekeeping, bodybbuilding, and auto mags? Well, I guess to each his own. I guess I should get a variety of reading materials.

None: it's gross and disrespectful to read in the bathroom. If you need to read something, you're taking too long or you must have ADHD.

I don't read in the bathroom but I've found a lot of folks go slowly. My husband and I have beem having an on-going debate over this.

To be a student in your lifetime makes every moment to be relished on education, you don't need place for that zeal. Any where you can make the your desire, lust for reading without wasteing the time.

I am not opposed to having some magazines in the bathroom, but not a whole lot. What irritates me is that my husband LOVES reading material in the bathroom. We are in graduate school and he does most of his reading in there. I think it's VERY inappropriate that he brings his books from the school's library in the bathroom. He just lets them stack up on the back of the toliet. Everytime I see them I carry them back out. I just don't want to go to the library thinking that those books have been on someone's toliet....eeeew!!!

better on the toilet than in it though....seriosuly, library books have been in some strange places. A little Lysol goes a long way.

I'm always afraid of getting the pages of the book wet. I guess it depends on how "into" the book I am. Some books you just don't want to put down.
