How can we possibly give Obama a free pass on this one?

America, especially you liberal democrats and young impressionable first time voters, you need to wake up and take notice! Barak Obama lives his life by a set of double standards but wants others to walk the straight and narrow! Barak, on national TV, forgave his pastor and told America that he "couldn't denounce him no more than he could denounce the black race"! Turn time back a few months and Barak Obama is the leader of the lynch mob to oust Don Imus from TV! If this isn't a double standard there never was one! Now we have journalists all across the country calling for "enough of Barak's pastor already" and I say why? Why should we forget that Barak sat under this racists tutelage for 20 years? Why should we forget that when confronted with the evidence, Barak Obama tried to lie his way out of it!!!?? Why should we forget that even in his speech about comdemning the verbage used by pastor Wright he wouldn't even REBUKE his mentor? America, someday, will in fact elect a black president but, given the knowledge we now have, is this really the black president we want? If the tables were turned, black people I'm talking to you, would you knowingly elect a member of the KKK to the highest office in the land? If you found out a white man or woman running for president had closet racial tendacies, would you still vote for him? I think not, but most black people who vote this November (and I say most not all) will in fact vote for Barak Obama if the democratic national convention is foolish enough to nominate him! So, young first time voters, I emplore you to search your young hearts and ask yourselves, "Is THIS the change we want or need in America?" Don't let this man who, in reality, has been taught for the last 20 years by a racist fool you. Barak Obama is a racist and a liar! There will not be any good come from an administration run by this man!

If Barack Obama shared in Wrights views or said those things then you would have a viable argument. Obama has not lied about anything with Reverend Wright, he has been very forthcoming and handled this the way he should have. I would have much less respect for Obama if he cut off ties with his spiritual leader of 20 years. Obama did not take the easy way out. He went up in front of America and fully explained the issue. Unfortunately, some of society will judge a Reverend off of 2 youtube blips and will always see him and Obama as villains. If you do some research you will find Wright is not a racist and should never be compared to the KKK. That is ridiculous, the KKK has killed thousands of Blacks, Jews and Catholics. In 30+ years of preaching Wright had two offensive blips that only a very small percentage of society refuses to let go of.

More and more DVD are surfacing with his sermons and they are all of that tone. Pastor Wright did go to Lybia, a former support of State Terrorisum, to visit the Dictator. You do not spend 20 years and give your financial support to a church the goes against your beliefs.

If you can please share with me the links of more of these type of comments. I have seen or heard of none besides to 2 that got a week of non-stop airtime from the Media that supposedly is biased towards Obama. Yes Wright is fiery and controversial, but he is not a racist or anti-American. Wright's good has easily outweighed his 2 distasteful comments. Roland Martin has a great blog which puts some of Jeremiah Wright in perspective: http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2008/03/21/the-full-story-behind-rev-jeremiah-wrights-911-sermon/

But the problem is he DID lie! He said if any of those things had been said when he was in attendance he would have quit the church and then turned around and admitted to hearing just exactly what he said he hadn't. He can't keep his story straight and he believes in this pastor who spews this racial and traitorous filth regularly and supports what he says! He is just trying to make you believe he doesn't so you will vote for him!

very well put Rodney. I agree with you. I hope that many others would wake up and see what we see but unfortunately it isnt going to happen. The Obama supporters just wont budge. Our only hope is the "on the fence voters". I certainly dont want a man who supports divisiveness to be our President. I strongly feel that Obama as President will take us in a backward direction.

I agree, Asuniqueasyou, backwards and upsidedown! I don't like Hillary either and McCain wouldn't have been my choice at all but with these other two, he will have to get my vote!

rodney, I totally agree with you. I will NOT be voting for Obama. It has nothing to do with him being black (actually he's mixed, his mother is white). I do have a problem with his politics and the fact that he associates with a man such as Mr. Wright. Mr. Wright preaches hate as much as the KKK does. I am so disgusted with people who are voting for Obama just because of the color of his skin. It's ridiculous.

Kudos!! An excellent warning to first time voters. I hope the older voters have already taken all the warning signs to heart....I know I have!

As someone living outside the US I can only comment based what is transmitted via the media. I really have not followed the campaign events much other than when there's a big hobaloo like the Obama/Wright story. I must say though that politics is full of persons with a case of foot-in-the-mouth disease who vie for leadership. The voting public is left to select the best of the lot to lead them but in any case the leader will be someone with a touch of the disease. You've made a very clear and valid point about blacks supporting Obama inspite of and whether they would do the same for a KKK member. I do think thou that if we were to delve into history more than one case of this might just surface and then blacks in turn would ask of you so what if it goes that way in their favor for once. I do think though that the threat of being lead by someone who as terrorist intentions/links is bigger than black and white. 911 did not cater for either race. The target was America. Poeple here in Jamaica lost loved ones. The important thing here in my opinion is that Obama be undoubtably proven to be connected to terrorist or that he has such intentions rather than for him to be labelled and buried by some well coined scandal (if that is what it is). If this is done then America will only stand to lose from not choosing the best man/woman for the job. Todays news revealed that Hilary outrightly lied about her trip to Bosnia and I cant but wonder what skelleton will be pulled out of which president hopeful's closest in the future. With so much distrust for either candidate being so strong among the voters of the US (as seem to be the case) I can only hope that the voters do not allowed themselves to be swayed by sensationalism. There are graver matters at hand which include taking the country back from the treat of a recession. The question: which of these candidates (with the foot-in-the-mouth disease) is the best man/wman for the job and who is the most sincere of the lot. Who faces up to adversities more? When all the sensationalism is removed from each candidate who is the better man/woman/leader? I'll still be here taking in snippests of the happenings there in the US hopping that the right discision be it what it may will be made by the voters.

Obama is as good as any of the two other contenders-it doesnt help to capitalize on a mistake he probably has made-who is perfect-didnt Clinton lie on her Bosnian Sniper threat? Didnt Mccaine have an affair with some woman outside wedlock? Has Obama not lied about the race tantrums of his pastor?-Politics is no place for Angels-leave the American people to decide who leads them without prejudice-none of the three is Hollier than Holly, blame no young person here!! Let the Americans, people of the free world follow their political hearts!

Academic, You have your opinion and I have mine! After all, isn't that what you said it was all about? I just strongly believe that the "change" Senator Obama wants for America will not be a change for the better!

Liberal Democrats are there anything else. What is this mythical Moderate Democrat I am always hearing about. Now on to the matter on hand. Obama know that American for the most part have a short memory. Also Obama know that the Obama Cult will forgive them for anything. Really the members of the Obama Cult see nothing wrong with what Rev. Wright has said. Some probably believe that the press just made up those videos. Look if you can believe that Obama is the best thing to have happen to the country, you can believe anything. Just look at so of the defender here on MyLot, they would defend him whatever the issuse is.

It's ridiculous to judge a man on two sentences spoken by.. his pastor. Judging a pastor based on a few phrases IS generalization, stereotyping and can be classified as blind hatred. I don't know this Wright fellow too well but I know that it's just absurd to claim that Barack Obama is an anti-American/anti-White extremist. Hasn't he repetitively said that his beliefs were getting all of us together and putting all prejudice aside?

I agree, one should not vote because of the color of their skin. I'm sure many would love to see a black president, and I for one don't have a problem with it, no different than we would like to see a woman in office for once. BUT THESE ARE NOT THE TWO THAT WE NEED TO PUT IN OFFICE, he is a sneak and talks out of both sides of his mouth and will be putty in the hands of the Demo party, that is why they backing him. She is a snake who is after power, and dont' care who she runs over to get what she wants. I can't stand the fact that it would put Mr Clinton back in the whitehouse so that he could embrass us again like before. Or now that she has power would she kick him out this time. She has used him since the day she met him to get to where she is now.You are right, a lot of the blacks can only see tht he is black, not what he stands for. So please think before you vote this man in and then you can't change what happen once he's in.

Rodney850: Liberal independent here, however not impressionable first time voter. Barak is NOT living his life by a double set of standards. I believe what Mr. Obama said was that he could no more denounce his pastor than he could denounce his white grandmother who helped raise him and sacrificed for him and on more than one occasion made racist comments that made him cringe. I sincerely doubt that everything that was said in that church was of a racist nature, if it was it was like no church I know, black or white. Churches have many things to deal with on a weekly basis, and I'm thinking that race is probably not the highest ranking on the list. What we have that is flying around the internet is but a small amount of what Pastor Wright has preached over the years and to pretend that we know all of what this man taught in church by the items "sound bites" that have been played over and over by the news media and on the internet is just to play into the hands of the "know nothing crowd". Barak Obama wanted Don Imus removed from TV and radio, now we know that Mr. Imus daily made, racist, sexist, obscene obnoxious and revolting comments. Well Mr. Imus was off the air briefly, but it seems, that no matter how much most of the black community and a large portion of American women wanted him off the air. Mr. Imus has indeed returned to the air, and the whole ordeal has not cost him a whole lot. Me thinks you doest protest too much. I would like to see you actually prove the lies that you think Senator Obama has told. I think you would be hard press to do so. Pastor Wright has been preaching something you probably are never going to understand, becuase you, lie my impulsive granddaughter seem to have the inablity to put yourself in another persons place for a day, a week, a year. Go back and try and live the life of Pastor Wright and tell me he is a racist, and tell me what white racism looks like to a black man of a certain age with the expectations he was raise with and exactly how he should respond to it. When you have figured out how to do that. Then tell me that Pastor Wright i a racist and tell me that Barak Obama who does not agree with Pastor Wright on many of these issues is a lier. I would never vote for John McCain. I don't want him picking my judges and I don't want him making military and foreign policy decisions for the United States and I cannot think of one political issue that John McCain and on unless it is on the issue of torture and the disposition of Guantanamo Bay, however, I have a great deal of respect for John McCain and the service he has rendered this country and I honor his military service especially. I believe he is an hornorable man even though I disagree with him politically. Until we can get down to a civil argument and discuss politics in this manner without calling each other liars, I don't not see how we are going to be able to co-exist in the country. For years I have felt like I was not welcome in my own country and that at least half of the population would just as soon I left the country or drop dread. I am an honorable citizen. I just disagree with the way you want to run the country. And I disagree with the way many people in this country think I should like my life. I am not hurting anyone else. My family is not hurting anyone else. We are kind loving, caring, responsible citizens. We volunteer when in times of stress when nature gives us a bad time and people need help, we are there to help out, we give to the red cross and shelters. We are not a drain on socity. We just want the same rights as everyone else to live our lives.

I would definitely go for Hillary due to the fact that black people have been in slavery before and if Obama is selected, he might turn it around. ** No Offense ** Just think about it.
