How to refer a friend on MYLOT???... newbie... :(

im sorry if this has been answered countless times already but i cant seem to understand how the refer a friend thing works? im planning to send invites on my friends e-mail addresses but im confused as to how would MYLOT know that im the one who referred them to MYLOT when they finally signed up with MYLOT?? Hope to get help! Thanks!
