I really don't like PEEPS

You know the sugar coated marshmallow things that they have for every holiday now...bunnies, chicks, hearts, pumpkins....
I bought a bunch for Easter because it seemed the thing to do. I mean everybody has bunnies and chicks for Easter, right?! But I don't like them. Something about the sugar coating. I just don't like the texture it gives.
Of course I've never been big on animal shapes treats either. The whole idea of biting the head off a chick seems too 'off' for me.
So am I alone in this? Is there anyone else out there turned off by PEEPS or am I just an odd ball in this?

I've always disliked peeps.. They taste so nasty to me......the texture, everything is just nasty. Now you know what Easter candy I always liked, the one shaped like a peanut. I don't know if you know what I am talking about but I always liked that one.

In my opinion they taste like orange chalk...not that I know what orange chalk tastes like lol but it's what I imagine it would taste like!
Funny story...when my oldest was little, she was a chunky baby. My parents took her somewhere and my dad stayed in the car with her while my mom went inside. He had a bag of circus peanuts and she liked them so he would hand them back to her one at a time when she would 'ask' for one. Apparently he wasn't actually looking at her because when my mom cama back out she found my daughter sitting there with her cheeks stuffed full of circus peanut mush and orange goo all over the place! She hadn't been swallowing them, just sucking on them until they turned to liquid!

I think they are called circus peanuts. I actually have never had one of those. When I was little, my Great-Great-Grandmother would never buy them for me. Now that I am older, I don't see any around. I wonder how they taste...

Hey foxyfire33, I actually love them. They are my favorite each holiday season ;). Well, I really don't care if I'm bitting their little heads off ;). What about gummy bears or really any other candy? The only thing I don't like about candy is it has all that artifical colorings and I don't like that, but I do think they look cute

No my friend your not alone in this one. I dont like peeps either. Yuk too much sugar. Now my hubby used to love them. Then in the last couple of years he doesnt like them either.heheheh Now he likes the the chocolate covered marshmellows.

WHAT??? You don't like peeps? Those are the best, especially after they have sat around a while and get chewy..Yummy!!! I will take all your extras, we barely got any this year..

I am a huge fan of the lil' Peeps. In fact I have this thing here I heat them up in the microwave for like 15 seconds and they are just the most delicious things. Sorry you don't like them... a lot of people have said this to e in the last couple of years and you just don't know what your missing. Sugar + Marshmallow = Goodness ;)

I think it's partly the novelty and partly the price. When I got them they were 10 for $10...it was so hard to turn down candy for $1 a box, so I got 10 more...ugh, what was I thinking!

I used to like them somewhat when I was little, but once I hit my teenage years I found them rather disgusting! However, I always liked a good chocolate bunny or Santa Claus so long as they were hollow inside. I never had a problem with biting their heads off! 
I almost bought a chocolate bunny this past Easter, but bought the little chocolate eggs instead. Maybe next year...

I could never bring myself to eat a chocolate bunny! I got one every year, wonder what my mom did with them and why she kept buying them even after she knew I wouldn't eat it?

You are not alone Foxy, I can't stand Peeps either. Not only does the sugar coating give it a weird texture, but the food coloring they use for them gives the peeps a bitter aspertame taste. (You know, like too much sweet and low?) I would rather just have a marshmallow by itself thank you very much.

That's exactly it! I couldn't quite place the taste but that's it! I'd rather eat a plain one too...or a chocolate covered one as I reminded of above!

yeah, chocolate covered marshmallows are definitely better. Well, as I said, anything is better than a peep. They are just nasty and I wonder how they have stayed around this long.

I am totally with you on that! I hate them! My mom always got them for me every year and every year I told her I didn't like them, and would end up giving them to her, that's probably why she did it, so she could have them! (lol) My kids aren't really fans of them either, but we all like those chocolate marshmallow "eggs" that come in an egg carton. Also, I remember those orange circus peanuts candy from back in the day, those were really good as well... You are definately not an oddball in this in my opinion! :)

I'm not too crazy about them either...the only reason I had some this past Easter is a friend of mine gave me a box of PEEPS chicks....she said "Oh, I just LOVE them." So did eat a few...well, I can safely say I'm not going to rush out and ever get anymore of them..

It must be a kid thing. Usually s/o buys tons of them and eats most of them himself so I bought a bunch extra so the kids would have some. He has yet to touch one...we'll have Easter PEEPS til the next holiday at this rate!

i hate Peeps! My grandma loves them but I think they are terrible. I like marshmallow but not the stuff they sprinkle on them! Animal shapes are cool though.

I dislike these also. I use to buy them for my kids EVERY year... and then... this year I forgot...
When i was talking to my kids, 20-14 they tell me they never really liked them anyway! LOL They just ate them... all that yummy sugar! for the great sugar high!

I have always loved peeps :) and now that I can get them more then just at Easter I'm really happy. I don't know why but I do enjoy them. All the varieties work for me. I know judging from the other posts I seem to be the oddball to this. It never bothered me to eat the head of a chick or anything maybe because we eat chocolate rabbits and other things like that as well.

I have never liked PEEPS; even as a child. I always gave mine to my brother or sister.
I do know someone who loves stale PEEPS. She opens up the package and lets them sit out a couple of days and then eats them.
My kids don't like them either. Well, the baby does but she would eat anything with sugar! I have to hide sweets from her.

I don't like them, but for a different reason. I just don't like marshmallow candy. I like to roast them over a camp fire for s'mores, I like them in hot chocolate. But for some reason I don't like any candy that has marshmallow in it. I have no problem biting the heads off of candy animals, just not marshmallow ones!
