fight to stay awake at bed time? Is it a nightly routine of "I'm thirsty" or "I am scared" or do they jusst come out into the living room and sit with you?

I try to stay in bed all night even if not asleep. So, I don't get so much of that. However, my daughter does come to our bed sometimes and crawl in with us. Last night was a two parter. The first time, I put her back in her own bed. The second time we just let her sleep there. I don't sleep well crowded like that, so I'm a bit off my game this morning.

With my boys (ages 10 and 11)_ It is usually a dozen trips to the bathroom, then I am hungary followed by my head stomach or ears hurt. It is a different excuse each time.

They used to disturb us, usually wanting to eat something in the middle of the night-they have become of age and we dont have to worry about them

oh yes! my one year old is the worset. he fights it so bad to the point he will just cry because hes so tired, mainly when we aren't home but like easter day my oldest went and woke up both he brothers and he was so tired but wouldn't give in. my 3year old is really good about it most of the time if hes tired he will lay down and tell you hes taking a nap. my oldest is 7 and he would do this everynight so we told him each time he gets out of bed he goes in 5 minutes earlier the next night so he stopped with the i have to pee(3 times in 10 minutes) or i need a drink or i'm scared.

Out of my five children i only have one that does this. He is my 7 year old he will constantly come down "Mum Im thirsty" or another excuse is that he wants another kiss or cuddle or that he forgot to say good night to someone. This happens most nights. But my youngest who is 2 in may actually asks to go to bed so it is a nice, not having to fight to get him to bed.

My son is odd and asks to go to bed! My mother in law told me that my husband used to do the same thing. He just treasures his sleep. I am so thankful for that and hope it continues!

My son always decides that he is hungry when it is bedtime. I always let him get his bedtime snack since he has been getting way too skinny lately. Then he wants a bunch of stories read to him. Tonight I read him one of his chapter books. It was like 50 pages. I told him since it was a long story he only got one. He was ok with it and went to bed.

Every night. "i'm thirsty" "i have to use the bathroom", one more kiss, one more hug. always something. I think it gets worse as they get older. My oldest son is ten and he's always "can i finish this show" "when i'm done with this game". Its ok cause one day they will be wanting the sleep and can't get it. lol
