Ring a Ring a Roses?

Wll my friends I was just wondering if you were to have flowers delivered what kind would you prefer and how would you like them arranged? A bouquet of lovely blood red roses perhaps, or a posy of fragile but delicate and fragrant spring flowers? Perhaps a basket of planted flowers is more your style or some long stemmed lilies tied together with ribbon? I have been helped by many here on mylot over the last year or more but there are a certain few people in 'real' life without whom I couldn't have gotten through the last few months and before, I would like to show these people how much they mean to me and my other half has offered to pay for some flowers for me! Now my Grandma is easy but I am not sure about my friend - what should I go for with her? What would your favourite be? I know some are going to think they would be very happy with anything but if there what would you like best? Come on guys I need some inspiration! xxxx

For myself, when I get a bouquet, my favorite is forgetmenots. I can plant them and forever remember who they were from.
But for your friend mummymo, I would send roses. Every woman on the earth would be thrilled to have a bouquet of roses even if they weren't her favorite flower. But building the bouquet is important, so this is how I would put it together:
1 long stem yellow rose for friendship you treasure
1 long stem red rose for respect and love you feel
1 long stem pink rose for grace and sweetness of your friend
1 long stem white rose for purity of feeling between you and to show you miss them
So you have a lovely bouquet of 4 roses that symbolize your friendship and your feelings about it and the friend you are sending it too. More isn't always better. Sometimes a little says so much!
Hugs mummymo. Let us know what you decide

My favourite flowers are daffodils , my daughter in law always buys lilies but I am not too keen , My granny used to love roses , I think no matter what you buy your friend or any special person in your life it is the love behind it that matters and the thought of you thinking about them , not the size of the gift , you are a lovely person to even think about doing this for someone. My DIL used to send baskets of flowers to my Mum ( she still does in fact ), I always thought it would be much nicer and a lot cheaper ( out comes the thrifty me lol ) to just have bought a bunch and given them to her , Mum actually thinks the same but doesn't want to hurt my DIL feelings as she is really lovely xx

I love to go down the dual carriageway and look at the daffodils , they are so fresh looking , Lemon is my favourite colour xx

Do you drive down the dual carriageway just to see all the daffs there then Mam? I couldn't help but notice them today - they are quite pale this year though! I understand how you feel about it costing less to just present a bunch of flowers but for somke reason I have always felt getting flowers delivered to me was a bit of much appreciated luxury! Now come on - start a conversation about flowers - that is far too sensible for me! lolxxx

I absolutely love the smell of wallflowers, the scent is out of this world, no other flower has the same reaction for me, but you can't get them in bouquets sadly, they grow in the garden and this time of the year they are starting to grow again, the lovely colours, reds, oranges and yellow. I wish I could bottle the scent because I would have that smell in my bedroom, on me, big girls blouse but I've always gone mad over the smell and they are outdoor plants and not indoor. xxx

I love to have freesias in a bouquet. They are my favourite flower. I love the strong aroma, and the colours. So, if I can pick out some colours, I'd like some white or red roses, with cream, red, purple and yellow freesias, and perhaps a couple of ferns in there. How does that sound?
I've posted below, a bouquet of red roses for you, my dear friend. Brightest Blessings, love and hugs. xxx

Do you know what her favorite kind of flowers are? I do have a favourite and it's frangipani's or otherwise known as Plumeria. Not sure if you get them where you are mummymo. They are my favorite! 2 people like this

Roses are my favourite flowers and we have been very lucky the last few years and have had plenty of blooms in our rose garden. But if someone wanted to send some flowers to me I would like Tulips as they are beautiful and quite a few colours to choose from. And add a nice cake of soap, I just love nice soap!

I love getting flowers of any kind. But now that spring is here I would like to get some daffidales or daiseys. I did get some daffidales for Easter. And in a couple of days I will plant them outside. I love seeing that come up next spring.

How thoughtful of you. All my friends know never to give me a gift of cut flowers as they are just going to die I much prefer potted plants as they can last for years and therefore the memory stay with me of who it was fron and why I received the gift.

I like that idea but I would have to know if the person liked plants and whether they managed to look after them - I am afraid i jinx plants and end up killing them - usually through over watering as I am terrified I forget to water them! The friend I am thinking of loves orchid plants but she has no space left for any to be kept in the right conditions! xxxx

Hi mummymo,
What a wonderful gesture on the part of you and your husband. I'm sure your recipients will be thrilled, no matter what your choice. Do I by any chance 'know' one of them?
As for me, I've always loved carnations, just as much as roses, so either would be good. Shades of pink are my favourites. I also really like spring arrangements, with tulips, hyacinths, etc., etc. Since I didn't inherit my mom's green thumb, if I were to receive a plant, a cactus garden would be best for me. There are some really lovely ones, I've seen.
However, I'd be thrilled with anything. I did receive a nice surprise on Easter Sunday, as we were leaving church. We had several Easter lily plants at the front that morning, and I noticed around three of them being loaded into a van, for our senior ladies. I hadn't paid a lot of attention to how many plants were at the front. Just before we left, our Pastor handed one to his daughter, to carry out for me, and it was a great surprise. It's in full bloom now, and is sitting on our kitchen table. It did help to make my day even better. Take care. xxx

That is so lovely that you got the lily plant as a surprise - I adore lilies! I am extremely brown fingered when it comes to caring for plants and things too! My friend used to be on mylot but was never very active so I don't think that you would know her! I have decided on a variety of flowers and colours in a little basket - the florist helped me decide as I know her well! Hugs to you my dear, dear friend! xxx

Hi Darling
I much perfer a living plant
because I find it depressing
to watch them die.
My son gave me bamboo in a spiral
form that was so fragile
looking. I just love bamboo.
Also if you friend likes to garden
A lovely small bucket with
a trowel, hoe, and pruning snips
throw in a pair of
gardening gloves and knee pads
And you have a lovely little bouquet

What a lovely idea - my Gran used to love that but it is a bit much for her now! My friends partner does all the gardening - with Niamhs help of course! I knew you preferred a living plant and I can understand that - it fits right in with your personality! xxx

I (female) would find it very dull if a man comes with red roses. Or any kind of roses. Boooring. I love white lillies and orchides. It shows he's been thinking and choosing something special. To arrive with a bunch they should be nicely wrapped up or when coming home and finding them in a suitable vase really makes me smile.

I have always liked red and white roses and carnations, arranged with my two flags somewhere in the bouquet. When my husband and I got married this is what I did for my wedding bouquet.

As I am colour blind, flowers don't really mean very much to me, and I don't give them to anyone either, because I may not get the correct ones. I am also sensitive to some smells/perfume, which limits my range as well, for instance I cannot go into a shop which sells scented candles, just get totally overpowered.
I would get a bunch of Rosemary (for Remembrance) for your friend. (Unless your friend reads Agatha Christie then that will be the last present recieved by your friend before getting 'bumped off')

I tell the kids all of the time MummyMo that if they want to buy me flowers buy me something I can plant in the yard and enjoy year after year :)) So now I get small rose bushes on Mothers day that has no flowers at'all.. but then the next spring they are blooming beautiful. Or Tulip or iris bulbs I can plant around the pond. I get to enjoy them then and more so..... But then again that is me :)) I think it is wonderful that you honor your friend like this.

I had a suspicion that you would prefer something that you could plant and nurture angel! I would love to do this for my friend but it is inddoor orchids she loves and I know she has no space left for them that they would thrive! My friend deserves to be honoured - I don't know where I would be without them! xxx

One of the most amazing bouquets I ever received was from my lovely other half for my birthday two years ago. It was a dozen white lilies, mixed with a dozen purple carnations, backed with ferns and all wrapped in black tissue with silver ribbon. Ok, so it may sound a little strange but I love lilies and my favourite colours are black and purple.

How very nice of you, and lovely for your Grandma and friend. I am sure you will choose exactly the right thing for them. My favorite flower is a calla lily and I love them arranged in a bundle with some sort of natural looking twine or ribbon holding them together. But at this time of year when the tulips are so beautiful, I would love a nice arrangement of assorted color tulips.

It isn't nice of me really sweets- if it hadn't been for the help of these wonderful people both physical and emotional I don't think I would have gotten through the last months! xxx

Actually, I have allergies and would much prefer an edible arrangement. YUM! www.ediblearrangements.com Its like fruit basket but with better fruit and it looks awsome. I love the chocolate covered strawberries. Do they sell these by you too?
