'I'm going to Australia!!'

This is the line that is repeated throughout one of my favorite children's books- Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Alexander says it every time something bad happens. That is the way I felt yesterday. It was one of the worst days I've had in a long time. My son was cranky, I was cranky, and it got progressively worse as the day went on. Since I don't think I can make it to Australia today, I think I'll do the next best thing and go to Grandma's. Hopefully we will both feel better and enjoy the break from our routine. What do you do for relief when you have a bad day?

Hope you have a better day today. Grandma can often be a great fix, hope the drive isn't to far. When I am having a bad day I go outside and stand in the sun. I also like to go to the beach, even just a drive by lifts me, or I go bike riding. I find nature helps me most times. When it doesn't I turn to music, depending why I am not feeling the best. Sometimes Johnny Cash, sometimes Kenny Rogers, failing that Meatloaf's Bat Out of Hell rids me of even the blackest moods. I haven't heard of the book that you are referencing, it sounds great though so I am off to the library to have a look.

Thanks. The day ended up being much better. Going to grandma's is usually the best thing, and only a 30 minute drive away. I am often soothed by a walk outside, but lately that depresses me more than it cheers me up. We still have a lot of snow on the ground, and most days don't get above 40d egrees. Sad, considering it is the end of March. We better have a great summer to make up for this crummy spring. The book is great. I hope you find it. It's all about how one thing after another keeps going wrong- exactly how I felt the other day.

Glad to hear you had a better day. It must be awful not having spring. I couldn't imagine being that cold all the time.

Well, I do hope your coming days will be fine and well. When I do have a bad day, I just paused for a while and take a deep breath and think that everything will be fine. I used to curse and say a lot of bad words when bad things or happenings keep coming up. When I do this, I just notice that it will only make matters worse. So now, I usually pause for a while and breath, think positive, and somehow, something good will come up.
