oui laws anyone find them to be a little harsh

I was arrested for oui back in november now get get me wrong i was drinking the night before,left my house at 3 am to catch my flight out of boston to the south for the holiday, i was on the side of the road cause i wanted to make sure i had everything next thing ya know i have a cop giving me a sobriety test and was arrested i blew a .10 .02 over the limit i lost my job paid over 2000 in fees and fines plus lost my license in which i dont have the 500 to get it back i think in a small town the cops look for it but why is this that i was told i commited a crime but who was the victim no one was involved but me i still cant figure that one out i didnt hit anything hurt anyone and im 6 foot 4 and weigh 230 pounds plus im irish i blew a .10 coming out of my mothers womb let me know what you all think.
