no matter you are successful or not in quiting smoking? what's the original reason? my father quit it as he was diagnosed high blood pressure, which leaded to cerebral hemorrhage further a few years ago. luckily,he resumes well in recent years and can lead a normal life now. another harvest is he has gotten rid of smoke completely.that's a good news! what about you? what's your reason to quit it?

I quit when I was pregnant with my son. It wasn't a planned pregnancy, otherwise I would have quite before. But once I learned of the risks I stopped smoking. I still have cravings here and there, but really I see no point in it, smoking costs money which I don't have, wrinkles which I don't need, and is bad for my health!

while I am not a smoker the reasons for people around me that have quit have been 1. medical/health reasons either for a current problem or fear of one arising 2. Financial reasons - it is an expensive habit to keep up with anymore 3. Social reasons - smoking has become taboo in todays society and smokers are being ostracized on a continual basis.

hey friends I would like to inform you that from the beginning of my college life I was a smoker but when I joined my service at that time I was also smoking. One day one of my colleague in the office challenged& bet with me that it will not be possible for you to quit smoking as you have been addicted. I accept the challenges and from that day I completely stopped smoking and since last 15 yrs I have not taken any ciger. Now I hate the person who smoke as he is not killing himself he also killing others as they are inhaling the smokes which is dangerous. pkc3000

I didn't smoke for a very long time. I think maybe a little around a year and a half but, I was still pretty hooked. Then I met who is now my husband. After about a month of dating he told me to quit smoking or lose him. I quit smoking because losing him was not an option. That was just under 11 years ago as we just celebrated 11 years together (6 of which we have been married). My dad smokes 2-3 packs a day. He has "tried" to quit more times than I can count. And, I say "tried" because I really don't think he has actually made an effort so much as run his mouth about "trying" to quit. It takes more than just talking about it. He doesn't seem to get that.

I am on day 3 of not smoking! My reason for quitting is nothing medically yet, well at least not that I am aware of, it is for my children. I want to be able to play with my children for longer than a few minutes. Right now I run out of breath and tire so quickly that I'm not much fun. Also, I am developing the smokers cough and I hate it! I owe it to myself and to my children.

I managed to quit smoking when I first joined the gym, it seemed to me pointless that I was doing all that exercise and training and my lung capacity wasn't very good because of the smoking, so I thought if I am going to be serious about training and working out then I am going to have to quit smoking, it was an incentive, I wasn't a heavy smoker anyhow and I managed to quit and I really reaped the benefits in the gym, I could run faster and further and my lungs were getting more powerful and clear of nicotine and all the bad stuff you do to your insides when you smoke.

I started smoking when I was in college because all my friends do smoke at that time and it seems cool especially during party or when you are at the bar or just chillin. But it's not really cool as I thought and I believe that there are really no positive effects if you smoke. You might get a lung cancer doing that, your teeth might have discoloration, your lips will be darker and it causes bad breath too.

I think the main reason is the health issue. Everybody knows smoking is very harmful for yourself and others. My dad quit it several years ago and we are so glad to it. It's not easy as he had smoked for so many years. His experience is when he felt like smoking, then he went to do some housework. And he kept on doing it for a week, then he had no more interest in smoking. Finally he succeeded to get rid of smoking.

I am now 246 days quit. My main reason for quitting was money. Second was my health and my son. He is 10 and he always lectured me about my smoking. I dont want him to think he can do it. Now that Im quit, he is so proud of mom. Thats enough for me to stay quit. I used Chantix to quit made it much eaisier.

Many years ago I quit smoking just before I became pregnant with my first child. Unfortunately, I started again 11 years later when I was going through my divorce. I'm still smoking now, but if I was to quit it would be for medical reasons. I know one thing that would NOT cause me to quit smoking... and that is doctors and others telling me that I needed to quit. I dont know about anyone else but that just p*sses me off... I know the health risks involved, I DON'T need to be told!! My doctor told me a few years ago that considering my family history of dad dying of heart disease and mum living with heart disease that I was taking unecessary risks by smoking and that I could well have a heart attack. I said to him, 'I tell you what, if I have a heart attack I will quit smoking!" He asked what if the heart attack killed me and I replied, "Well, I won't be smoking any more will I?" LOL NOTE: My doctor still badgers me to quit EVERY time I see him

Poverty, new relations that demand quitting for susatinability, say a woman you want to marry will say, we sahll tie the note only if you quit! If one beomes a born again, chnces are that quitting can be achieved, or quit becauses smoking is ruled out on serious health reasons!

I have never been a smoker but I have helped many people to quit by hypnotizing then to have them gibe up smoking for themselves. Some people need more incentives to quit than others and if a person comes to me to quit I will ask them if they are really wanting to quit or not, if they are not wanting to quit then I tell them to not bother me until they are really ready to quit. If they are not really ready to quit then hypnosis will not help them but if they are ready , hypnosis can and usually does help them to quit for good.

Well, firstly congratulations on your father's resumption of health.I never smoke cause when i was young,my father is very strict to me and didn't let me smoke though he smoked very often.so,from my young age,i don't have the chance of smoking. When i am getting older,i found that smoking really does no good to my health,i once went to a exhibition, there are many human being specimens including the real man specimen with black lung due to heavy smoke,i got shocked,it badly impressed me,after i went back home,i called my father and persuaded him to give up smoking and explained what i saw on the exhibition,i am very happy that my father accepted my advice and quit smoking.
