Where's The Charm

Remember when children were sent to Charm School to learn etiquette? How about when little girls were taught home economics, how to play the piano or violin? What happened to children learning those things? I guess that goes to show how old I am. I wonder what happened to things like that and if they even exist anymore?

At this one school they have what is called a Jack and Jill pavilion where they take kids that are the verge of going in the wrong direction and they for so many weeks , they teach the boys and girls etiquette..And at the end, they have this fancy dance they put on..I think it is a really good idea, I would like my kids to get into something like that, just for the fun of it..:)

Too bad they have to wait until they are heading in the wrong direction to teach things like this.

That is true, but even if they did, we probably couldn't afford to send our kids anyways..

I remember going to ballroom dancing lessons at the Y. We had home ec in school and my son and daughter more recently also had home ec, although it's not called that now. That's a good question, who is teaching this stuff to the kids? How to seet a table, how to eat correctly, how to introduce people - who you introduce first? I think a lot of this is now lost. ,,whit

The only way kids learn this these days is if they learn it at home, watching television or playing video games. I think the evidence is speaking (loudly) for itself, for the most part. I fear no one is teaching these things much anymore.
