EMO: a way of life?

My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy--these are but two of the bands that my little sister loves to listen to. She's starting to be a bit a problem to my mom. When she's mad, we don't know what to do. She just keeps quiet and gets cold as ice, maybe even colder. I've been telling my parents to tell her to cut back on listening to MCR because it's affecting the way she's been interacting with other people. She'll be turning eleven this coming October, but apparently she's telling me she's going antisocial. I SO totally think EMO is the next black death of our generation. It's gradually making all those happy people depressed, and society doesn't know what to do. What's your stand? Is EMO an actual way of life of most people, and if you love listening to EMO songs, how has it affected your life? Should EMO be condemned in society? Is there any way we can do away with this plague? My stand is that EMO used to be this genre of music that has gone mainstream in our way of living. I just think EMO has to go. How about you?

Music is an outlet for emotions that already exist. If you can identify with certain music, it's theraputic to listen to because you feel less alone. It makes you feel like someone somewhere understands you. Whilst she's hitting the age of teen angst a little early, it doesn't mean that a certain band is to blame. She obviously has feelings she's having trouble dealing with and cutting out her music will only make her more angry and resentful and less likely to trust you or your mother and confide in you. Perhaps a counsellor would be a good option for her?

The thing is she says she's always 'fine' and I'd like to believe she is. Apparently it's she's turning out to be like me back in elementary when I used to love Westlife, NSYNC and A1... guess they got replaced my EMO today. Sigh. We think counseling would just make her feel worse. My mom had this friend whose son's gone totally EMO, sent him to counseling--and he just got worse.

while i like fall out boy, i dont think i am emo...maybe a little punk though, but ya, at a young impressionable age such as that, i imagine she shouldn't get so focused on that music.

That's how I really feel about it. She's just too young. I wish she'd just grow up like most normal people. Haha!!

I personally despise Emo music, its all together too sad and depressing and it certainly affects the mood of whoever listens to it. Why people like it is totally beyond me.
