Why do you think people post links in discussions when against guidelines?

Was wondering why some people post links in your discussions, when it is against mylot guidelines to do so. Is is that they are not aware they are not allowed to? Or is it maybe they do know but still want people to go to their link regardless of the consequences? I am not trying to offend anyone, if you have posted any links on discussions. Just curious as why some people post them still? This can get other people's discussions deleted also I have heard.

I guess I can see why people do that, but surely you think they might be concerned that they may not be allowed to come back to mylot if they continue. I would not like to be banned from this site.

Your welcome, glad I made you aware. I think we are all guilty of not reading the guidelines properly or not at all, I rechecked it tonight as I did not understand why my topic was deleted and I think it was because people posted referral links. Don't feel bad for doing it once, least you know for next time.

Yeah I know I am guilty of saying Thanks, I only just found out tonight myself by reading guidelines again. It is hard not to do, as I do appreciate people responding.

Really? I'm one of those that didn't know.. I've mostly posted links on responses I give out whenever a certain discussion is asking for some help and I would often just give the link that would at least answer his or her inquiry.. I will try to avoid that from now on. Thank you.. though I could've read it in the guidelines after all

Oh! Thanks for the save! This simply shows how ignorant I am with the guidelines

Sorry Ratzy, I should have said referral links, they are not allowed, where people try and get you to sign up under their site. Links that are useful to your discussion are definately allowed. Sorry for misunderstanding. You are allowed to message people though your referral links.

Hi mrpipo you can paste links to show where you got source of information but not referral links for your own websites

hi kiran1978, I think the guidelines "DO" section allowed us to post links to support some evidence or explanation about what we talked within the post / response (that's what I conclude from the guidelines I read just now), for example if we mentioned about some news outside and we wanted to post the proof that the news really talked like that, I think the only thing we could do was by providing the link to the original article in the news site (rather than copy-pasting the whole article which would really break the term / guidelines). however, if the links were referral links or promoting something or for hijacking the discussion, that would not be allowed for sure. and yes, it would cause the post being deleted. yes, I also found some irritating people who responded some discussions and posted their own promotional / referral links within the response. well, surely myLot will have the members reported these irritation as well.

Yes, it's very frustrating, especially if you've posted a nice response and the whole discussion gets deleted simply because ONE person posts a link! It's not fair. Only their response ought to be deleted. Ther eis one exception, of course, if they START the discussion, the whole discussion should be deleted, btu I wouldn't usually post in such a discussion anyway for fear it would get removed. I think some people are just so focused on getting referrals for certain programs that maybe they become selfish. Some others may not care much for this program and use MyLot to spam their links. Who knows? It is so easy to talk about a program and simply ask people who are interested to contact you, rather than spam the link! I would think more people would do that. It would take a little more effort, but at least everyone who contacts you would be interested and not just some inactive participant...

I agree with you it is not fair if your whole discussion is deleted because of their referral link, cannot understand why mylot just does not delete their response. WE need crash back here to help resolve this issue. Your right no need to spam discussion they can easily message people instead, much better option.

my dear friend, please bear on mind that i don't want to offense anyone in here. from my opinion, put discussion link within a discussion still acceptable as long as the purpose to put those discussion link to show some evidence and not have purpose to ask anyone to response the discussion in those link. and honestly, its helping me when my friends response my discussion and asked me the discussion that she already made to answer my discussion. sometimes, i also provided my link discussion to support my another discussion and there is no intention to change link discussion or something like that have good day, for you dear

I guess alot of people here may not seem to know that you can't post referral links in discussions. Lucky though that you never posted them anyway. Sorry to hear about your friends being deleted from mylot. Does mylot explain why they ban people from the site?

I think that maybe they might be like me and do not read the dos and donts!! I have never posted links but neither have I read the guidelines properly, so I probably do a few things wrong from time to time. Best check those guidelines out a bit more thoroughly while I remember I will do that in a min!! Have a nice day kiran1978.

Hi geminirose I forgot to mention one important key word, referral links. People are not allowed to post refferal links where they try and get you to go to their website to sign up under their name. However you are allowed to post links that are useful to discussion and to show source of information. Hope I did not confuse you too much. Have a good day.

Hi Kiran Actually, links in posts ARE permitted. If you check the guidelines you will see under the list of "DO's" Bullet point 7 - Make sure to post USEFUL links in discussions when necessary to provide authoritative guidelines or to refer to a third party article. Under "DON'Ts" Bullet point 6 - Don't post copyrighted articles or photos please link to them. DON'T post copyrighted photos at all. Bullet point 15 - Don't post any links promoting AFFILIATE programs or that do not pertain to the discussion. Posting the same link over and over or posting links that have no relevance to the discussion is NOT ALLOWED. So it is permissible to post links in discussions as long as they are appropriate, add meaning to the discussion and are NOT affiliate links

Sorry I realised I should have stated affiliated links (referral links) as this is not allowed like you stated. Sorry about the misunderstanding, next time I will be more clearer, we all make mistakes, lol.

Oh, and I realise you are mainly talking about affiliate links... and obviously you are absolutely correct about that. :)

Darling maybe you need to read again the discussion guidelines... you will see there the do's and dont's on putting link on your post... Don't you appreciate the link that may help you to believe regarding the issue that you tackle.. if you think that you encounter link that are not useful nor nothing to say really regarding the issue, you may report it to the admin...

Yeah well at least you know your limitation here in mylot. Me my self forget the rule and thank those person who appreciated my opinion. I just react to what you post because before i post a reply, i make sure that my answer would make sense and they make take some key value from me. I learn to put links because i search first and add information that may be useful to some mylotters. Yeah we wish that if only we can edit what we have post recently, but the sad thing is we cannot.
