It seems like there's a lot of conservative or Republican people on here. I personally tend to be more liberal, however there are a couple of issues I am conservative on. At this rate I won't get any friends on here.

Well, I guess you could say I lean more towards the liberal side. I don't know if there are more conservatives here, but I'd have to agree that there are more conservatives that participate in the discussions. I always somehow find myself surrounded by conservatives during debates on MyLot. I try to keep it at a friendly level but I've noticed that whenever I try getting into a mature debate with someone who opposes me (in this case, usually a conservative) it ends up with statements such as, "Liberals are all loonies." "Liberals are crazy hippies." "Liberals are Communists." At that point, I just laugh at the ignorance. I guess when it ends up like that it is hard to be friends with someone who opposes your political views.

Some of my favorite arguments liberals (and moderates as we are the same in their eyes) are all mentally insane, Clinton and Obama are Socialists, Fascists, Marxists, Nazi's or compared to the KKK. It is strange I don't see our side getting so angry that someone might not agree with us. I just wish more fact would go into their attacks. I get very tired of all the lies that get tossed around here as the truth and then about 5 conservative posters behind it 100% with no thought whatsoever. And we wonder why things got so screwed up these last eight years.

Not everyone is like this, but I have seen particular members with these types of responses. There are also "liberal" members I've been involved with who've treated me in disgusting fashion. I coined the term "monster ogre" or "dark ogre" based on a few responses from awhile back. Some may feel its hard being friends with someone of a different political affiliation, I don't have as much difficulty with it (particularly since I identify with none of them). Ask members like Anniepa, Bravenewworld(if he's still around), Miamilady and others. I'm opinionated, indeed, but still friendly (I think).

Pfft. Left wing, right wing. No matter what side people extol I simply laugh. They are both equally useless. This doesn't mean you can't make friends though. There are plenty of other topics that are not political. Don't be discouraged to post on what you want Lisan, either. You may also find some people have intriguing viewpoints on issues, some may surprise you completely. Other times, look at what the "conservatives" are doing in other non-political discussions. A few are harder to find on those type of discussions (as are some "liberals"), but most people have fun on other threads too.

Yes, there are some liberals...you will recognize them by the names they are called in some discussions. lol I certainly am a liberal and always have been. I'm more liberal on some subjects than others, but I'm always the liberal!

I consider myself a moderate but I am constantly confused for a liberal Democrat on this site. It seems if you don't agree with the "friendly conservatives" then you must be a liberal. I too normally side more to the right than the left depending on the issue however after the last 8 years of Bush I feel like I'm backed into a corner to support a Democrat to repair the economy and get us out of Iraq. I truly hate any system where anyone votes for or strongly supports anyone just because of an R or D next to their name. You are definitely right that us "liberals" are outnumbered by conservatives here on mylot. I'm not really sure why but it does make for some great "discussions".
