The doctor says that I need to get a certain type of shoe for when the cast comes off. This gives me only 2 weeks to find and have delivered a shoe I am not sure is made in my size and especially my budget.
As my foot is healing in such a position that the toes are pointed downward and it will take some time to stretch the tendon down to a normal walking position - he needs me to purchase a pair of shoes that are quite elevated in the heel - but not a narrow high heel type of heel - but a wide based heel, I am thinking like a wedge maybe? but where to purchase such a beast? any ideas?

Try a thrift shop or second hand store. Maybe someone here has one they could send you. Do a suitable heading and see what happens. Try: Urgent! Can you help me?
I need a shoe with a wedge heel size ... perhaps you have one in the back of your shoe cupboard you no longer wear? If you would like to help me out please pm me for details.
or something along those lines. It's worth a shot.
I'm a bit behind with things so maybe you don't have time for this now...

Sorry sweety I wish I could help but I really have no idea - have you tried doing a search online? I have really wide feet and when I was expecting my youngest they got so wide that I couldn't get shoes or slippers to fit! Eventually I managed to find a pair of mules that had a velcro strap across the foot - I managed to close it and it just stayed together and no more - thankfully it was summer! I wish you luck at finding the shoes you need at the right price and in plenty of time! xxx
