cast came off

but only for a moment - they cut off the cast to check for progress plus it was getting too big as the swelling has decreased dramatically. Then quickly put a new cast on. The new one is most uncomfortable, he did not put the padding around the toe area like before - and every step I take digs into the base of my toes and around the instep - so that I find I can not take very many steps - while as with the other cast I was hobbling around pretty good. My toes are pins and needley and I wonder if it is not too tight. I can not determine capillary refill... but the toes are warm enough to touch so I am guessing circulation is okay. I did not seem to have any increased strength nor reflex in my foot (severed achilles tendon) so I am just hoping that it will be heeled in the next two weeks.

Wow that sounds awful. I've never broken anything that I needed to wear a cast. One time when I was in 4th grade I was sliding around in my boots on ice just goofing around and I landed on my wrist and sprained my wrist. It hurt so bad for so long. My ex just went to a wedding and got drunk and jumped off this thing to grab a tree and fell onto his face. Somehow he fractured his wrist and has to have a soft cast on. Hes a plumber so the first day at work his cast is covered in fuel oil. I dont even know what he could do about that because they arent supposed to get wet and I'm sure he cant get a new cast put on everyday. Hes going to have to find a way to cover it up before working. I dont want him to touch the kids clothes and have oil rub off onto their clothes and ruin them. Fuel oil smells so bad.

Sounds terribly painful and irritating.. did the doctors say how long they expect you to have the cast on? It must have felt so good when they took it off for even that brief amount of time. I broke my leg just below my knee and had a cast and a huge plastic and metal fitted brace from the top of my thigh down to my toes. It was dreadful the sweatting and itching. Mine was in June so it was getting pretty warm out. At least it's healing and the swelling is down. I hope you get relief soon and heal quickly. Brightest Blessings, Mari

I did not know you were in a cast Modestah. I think I might have missed out on a few discussions before we became friends. Did you sever your archilles tendon? I ruptured mine a few years back and had to wear a half cast for six weeks and then did physio to strengthen it again as well as wearing those big medical boots for support. I think it took me a good 6 months for it to come right again and now I find it's much stronger for some reason.

Awww poor sweety! I do so hope that once it is worn on a little it gets a lot more comfortable! Good luck and hope that you don't have to wear it for too long! xxx

Man...isn't it just a bugger to be laid up like that...I hope your circulation is okay. Sounds like it is. Did you ask him why he didn't put the padding back? You would think he would want you to be as comfortable as possible!
