Are mind machines dangerous?

Many people have used mind machines/brain drive machines to reach altered states of awareness. Is this dangerous in any way? I've heard that it's very relaxing and whatever. But I wonder if it doesn't open up one's mind to influences that a person might not want there. Does it open the mind up in ways that it should not be? Does it manipulate the brain in ways that are unnatural and potentially dangerous? I would really like some answers from personal experiences.I would especially like answers from people on the conservative side since I'm a litte wary about this. But anyone feel free to post in. thanx!

Are you refering to biofeedback or the type of machine seen in scary movies? biofeedback is a non-invasive method of learning, among other things, to control pain with the mind. I have learned biofeedback techniques and it works for me. However, as for scary movie stuff, I would never try it.

mo I'm not talking about biofeedback. I mean machines that produce a certain frequency that your brainwaves are supposed to tune into to get you into an altered state of conciousness.
