I love them and hav'nt had one in a while. I cut off the pickers on the outside and season with salt and pepper and fill a pot with about 2 inches of water and cook till the leaves come off with a gentle pull. I dunk the leaves in some lemon butter. Soooooooo good. Does anyone know when they come in season?

I grow globe artichokes in my garden and we usually start picking them around June. I too love them with lemon butter or with french dressing. Have you tried Jerusalem or Chinese artichokes?

I'll have to try the French Dressing thing. I have never heard of the other Artichokes, where do you find them? Are they as good?

The other types are root vegetables and are white knobbly tubers that are crisp. You can eat them raw or cooked

March through May. There is a restaurant here that has the best artichoke & spinach dip. Served with baked pita chips it's to die for!

I make that at home. It's sooo good but the canned hearts just does'nt satisfy the craving. March thru May that means they should be in the stores very soon.
