Easter Sunday at the dinner table my daughter and I were in tears of laughter after my son so proudly sang out the words to a Credence Clearwater song to my granddaughter. It was one of those times when you know the person is so sure the words are right but they were so not
. He got the first verse of Down on The Corner right but when he went into the chorus he sang LOUD AND CLEAR "Down on the corner, HIGH ON THE STREET"....we just looked at him and he couldn't even figure out why. When we asked him about it he said it was about kids getting high in the streets....Too funny!
Also, one of my favorite King of Queens episodes has Doug singing "Reverend Blue Jeans"
instead of Forever In Blue Jeans....Neal Diamonds song and not only did Carey crack up but I laughed myself off the couch. Even when she told him the right words he wouldn't believe her!
Has this ever happened to you? Have you been so sure you knew the words to a song and later found out you were wrong?

When I saw this and read about the CCR song it made me laugh because I remembered my little brother. Years and years ago when we would go on our summer vacation we would always pack up the car and drive to PA. to see my aunt and uncle. I grew up listening to 60's music so we heard a lot of CCR. We would all sing along to the radio and for years we had my younger brother believing that the song Bad Moon Rising went, "there's a bathroom on the right". He had no idea that those weren't the real words until he was a teenager, LOL!

When my sister and i were about 12 and 10 we used to sing the song by Garth Brooks - Standing outside the fire. But we thought he was saying Standing outside the Bar. Our mom thought it was hilarious and didn't correct us for ages until my grandma asked what we were singing.

When I was a little kid my dad had taken me and mymom and my sis to church so when we came home he asked me what the hymn of the morning had been and I told him bringing in the sheep we will come rejoiceing bringing in the sheep. He laughed til he cried then I burst into tears as I had not a clue as to why he was laughing then he said honey it is bringing in the sheaves we will come rejoicing bringing in the sheaves. I said what is a sheave and he explained it was wheat so I told him I liked it better bringing in the sheep after all we did live in a sheep raising area.
