we know that fever is not caused by hay nor fever, it is caused by pollen from flowers and trees, but what I just read I did not know did you? "There has been a prolonged snow cover on the ground from mid-November through mid-March said ACAAI President-Elect Richard G. Gower, M.D., Marycliff Allergy Specialists in Spokane, Wash. “Melting snow has revealed an abundance of outdoor mold growth and the use of indoor humidifiers has contributed to increased indoor mold counts. Trees began pollinating in early February and will continue through June, overlapping with our grass season in May and June.” excerpt from: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/03/080326194314.htm

We just shed walls in our bedroom yesterday due to mold growth because it stays so damp in there in the winter and since it is the last room in the trailer it is the farthest from the heat and so it stays cool and damp and mildew and mold grows on the back of our dressers and the walls. And my husbands sinuses have been giving him fits he is taking bendryl everyday in order to breath halfway decent. My sister in law has a humidifier going all the time. I should let her know because 2 of her kids have breathing problems and and allergies maybe this could be due to her using it all the time . Thanks, I will let everyone know this next time I talk to them.

She said she uses it because they heat with electric and it dries out their nasal passages and throat if they don't have it on. But I will inform her on this discussion or send it to her.Hope you have a great day winterose.

a humidifier adds moisture to the circulating air and that causes more mold, what you need is a dehumidifier to the the moisture out of the air and kill the mold.

Wow. Thats crazy. I guess it really makes sense, now that I am thinking about it. No wonder I've had so many sinus and allergy issues this year. I never attributed it to the amount of snow on the ground. Makes perfect sense.

That's interesting to know. That's one thing Southerners don't really have to worry about: melting snow.
