My controversial topic of the season.

Ok so this is my contorversial topic... lol. I got the idea for this topic actually from a friend who brought up a question on another site I'm on. The topic is abortion. I know that there are people who have very strong beliefs on the subject both for and against. The biggest problem thought that I've noticed is most can't make their argument without going to one extreme or another. Meaning many that are against it can't make their argument without bring religion into it.. and many that are in favor, can't make their argument without bringing up rape or incest. So I'm wondering if there is anyone out there that has a for or against argument that doesn't hint on one of those extremes. Meaning if you are for it, tell me why without mentioning the possiblility of rape and incest, because frankly the precentage of those that get abortions don't fall into that group. For those that are against can you present an argument against it without bringing up religion or god, cause frankly thats not an argument especially when there are a great number of people who don't believe in either. If asked I will share my views on it and why I feel the way I do, but not until asked lol.

I'd like to hear your views on it. My views are based on each situation and I'm not going to be judgmental (except in a few cases). The only place I would judge a person is when they repeatedly have an abortion as birth control. I don't approve of that....be responsible. After proper precatutions, it happens once...I understand....but people repeatedly going in for an abortion just because they do not want a child and haven't taken enough precautions, that's not something I condone. This is my view...I'm not going out into the streets to fight for it...because it's a choice someone makes....but if it was a friend of mine who did it and spoke to me...I would give her/him a piece of my mind. So, as a rule I'm not for or against abortion. Each situation needs to be considered individually.

I agree with not agreeing with repatedly using abortions as a form of birth control and I too tend to be judgemental of people like that. Once or twice I can understand that sometimes sh*t happens but anything more than that and frankly the person needs to start taking proper percautions and responsibility for themselves and their actions.

I'm pro-choice and it has nothing to do with religion nor is it limited to rape and incest. I'm not "for abortion" as in my personal opinion this is a very sad decision for anyone to have to make and I don't think I could have ever done it myself. However, although I'm past the point in my life where I can become pregnant, I have to add that I would "never say never" because I was never in the type of desperate situation some women and girls find themselves in and one person's "desperate situation" may be another's "minor inconvenience". My reason for being pro-choice is that it's a personal decision that should only be up to the woman or girl who is pregnant, the father IF applicable meaning if the father is a responsible and caring person and not someone who is abusive or threatening, the mother's doctor and whoever else SHE chooses to allow to be involved in it. I don't personally condone using abortion as a substitute for birth control but, like rape and incest, this also makes up a small percentage of abortions performed. I believe that if someone who happens to be against the right to choose wishes to be called pro-life they should also be concerned with what happens to those babies that are brought into the world and willing to do their part in helping them. In other words, if you don't think a woman has a right to get an abortion then don't complain when there are children who don't have enough to eat or adequate health care without help from the government. Very well said, and to be honest thats pretty much how I feel about the situation. I don't agree with abortions being used as a form of birth control either and it breaks my heart when they are. Thank you so much for your response, and sorry I'm late in resonding back.

Meaning if you are for it, tell me why without mentioning the possiblility of rape and incest I'm Pro Choice with a Pro Life twist I suppose you could say (the Pro Life twist being that i am against abortion as a means of birth control)..I'm Pro Choice because sometimes shyt happens and following through with a pregnancy isnt in the best interest of those immediately involved (already here I mean)..In fact sometimes following through with the preg could/can be potentially damaging...sometimes mentally and emotionally and sometimes for health reasons (meaning the mother or baby would die during delivery)

I am for abortion if the mother or childs life is in danger, rape/incest of a minor and pregnancy results. I am NOT for abortion is it is for convenience, unwanted pregancy, etc.

Easy... If someone can't support a child why should they bring one into an already overpopulated world? You can't say, give the child up, that requires carrying it to term which isn't always possible. That also doesn't take into account all the kids that are already in the foster system that don't have a real home.

I'm completely against abortion in any way, shape, or form simply because those unborn kids are still kids. When I felt my own son move inside me, or felt what he was doing to my body before I could even feel him move, I wondered even more how someone could just rip that kid out of his home like that. Add that to the fact that humans are always human, at any stage of development, and always will be, it just doesn't seem right. And for the record, I'm pro-life all around; I see very few justified uses of capital punishment, and honestly, I have a problem with some scientific exploration on animals as well, especially the babies. I just think every child ought to be given a chance at least. Blessed Be
