How sticky should super sweet rice be?

I love rice. I like wild rice the best but it takes forever to cook. I love curried rice with raisins and almonds too. So I am in the "ethnic foods" section of my supermarket looking for something different to try. I bought this super sweet rice from Asia. I cooked some up and it turned into a ball of super sticky super sweet rice. I strained it and rinsed it in water but it was still really sticky. I thought it was really really tasty. My question is did I do something wrong in the way I cooked it? How is rice like this supposed to be cooked and enjoyed the best? I know the people of mylot are a bunch of good cooks...

When you cook rice what makes it sticky is too much water or cooking it at too high of a temperature. That doesnt affect the taste, though it may be mushy. My mom advises to always use a little less water than the recipe calls for if you want to avoid mushy rice.

I think the too much water may apply as I always just eyeball the amount and wing it. I guess sometimes I should take the time and measure. Thanks for the help.
