I was always wondering why some people have high responses to their discussions. What makes their discussions tick? Well. since joining myLot last month, the highest response from all the discussion topics I have posted was only about 30:

So how do you make your topic to have many responses? Whats the highest response you got for your topic?

I have received closed to 800 responses for several of my topics like HOW MUCH WATER YOU DRINK, How much you pay for haircut etc. There are several topics which received around 400 responses. There are scores of them which received 100+ responses.

Wow 800 responses for a single topic! That's great! Well with 18 thousand activity you are a veteran of myLot and I hope to soon have topics with that kind of responses. You must be earning much here from myLot. Thanks for the response. I thought only about 100-200 responses was the highest here in myLot but you blew me away with 800 responses?

I feel there is possibility of one or two members who have received more than 800 responses. Unfortuantely they have not responded to your topic, otherwise I would have known the people who have performed better than me.
Do you that if you do good follow up even you can do better.

One was about favorite chocolate item (which got 60 or so)
Many of my other discussions barely make it to the second page.
What makes topics tick is how easy they are, how much a member can relate to them, how much it impacts a person, and on the end how much active friends will respond to a topic.

I've been known to get up to 100 responses, maybe a few more, on various discussions I've started. I rarely ever select "best responses", and the discussions keep going. I tend to post general topics, that will never get old. They can go on orever, if they want to.

I think I probably only have about the same as you, 30 responses to a discussion, but I really don't know for sure since I haven't really checked to see. I know I don't seem to get a lot of responses to my discussions so I guess they are not all that good. I have about 75 friends on my list and they are obviously not all loyal since I don;t get a lot of responses from most of them. You would think with 75 friends I should get at least half of them responding to me. but I don't. I try to respond to all of my friends discussions, but a lot of my friends don't do the same for me and that's okay.

Well that's good enough Redrover. Just keep on posting creative topics and maybe we too can get more than a 100 post.

I have got 27 responses to one of my discussions titled Are you mylot addict
I don't know how some people manage to get so many responses. One thing I have learnt is to tag the discussion properly so that when similar discussion is reponded by someone, my discussion will also be shown in similar discussions.

I think the maxium responses I got was around 30. It is nice to know people are getting 800 responses. I think it is great to see lots of responses on the questions one ask. I am thinking of putting some good questions so that I might get good responses in the future.

Wow, 30 responses. :P
I never count mine.
So far the top discussion I got many responses was the one titled “how is the best way to remember chinese characters?” I opened the discussion because I was getting pessimistic in memorizing Chinese vocabularies in the night course I attend after work.
I was surprised to read many friendly responses for that discussion. After I opened that discussion, I noticed that a lot of people would love to share the tips for those who were learning their native language.
However, I’m not good in getting ideas for new discussion, so mostly I would wait until I have gotten some questions to ask, and I would also bring the topic into myLotters’ attention. :)
