Revealing my Secret Shame :P

Yeah, I've been away a few days. I popped in a time or two, but most of my attention has been centered elsewhere.
As some of you might know, last week I feel down my steps and sprained my knee. Because of this, I wound up spending three extra days off work, and somehow in the middle of this I got roped into actually writing a Naruto fanfiction piece. I've been reading lots of Naruto fanfic lately, but I've never written one, and in fact the only fanfic I've ever written was a fragment: a single conversation between two characters that I felt should have happened in Hana Yori Dango.
So I start writing this Naruto fanfiction, and of course it's Iruka-centric. (duh) Well, it's eating my brains. I think about it at work, at home, while doing other things. In less than a week I've written 15 chapters of this monster, and I'm thinking "Wow, I wish I could be this dedicated to my REAL novel!"
So that's my secret shame, for those wondering where I've been... I've been away writing Naruto fanfiction. Naughty Naruto fanfiction at that. *blushes*

You know lecanis...maybe that should be your real novel...maybe you have a "passion" for something else other than the novel you are writing.

That would be pretty difficult, because I'd have to find some way not to set it in the Naruto universe, which would change the whole story. *shrugs* I'd actually rather leave my fanfiction for a fun thing, and work on my novel one my interest in it is piqued again. I do actually really like the novel I'm writing, but I'm just at a point in it where I needed to take a break and do something else. The way I see it, I'm getting writing practice in.

maybe some how you can change it up and make it your own...maybe come up with your own characters...just play around with it, you seem to be very creative...

Thanks! I was just a little nervous about it. Also, if you haven't seen the anime Naruto, you might be a little lost about the universe it's set in. But feel free to read and let me know what you think. It's called "Hiding", and each chapter is a separate livejournal post.

This post was a little tongue-in-cheek for those who know what fanfiction is (writing within someone else's universe, usually a TV series, movie, etc)... my husband calls it "the lowest form of writing". That's why I was calling it my shame. I'm really having fun with it actually!

I wrote one original story in several months and I was thinking about it everywhere, above all if I had to study
Have you published your fic somewhere? I'm curious.
It's better to publish it some chapters at time and have constant feedback. I've waited to publish my story when it was finished and now I have too much expectations from it ( I've made it read only by 3-4 close friends argh)

I never would have guessed for a minute it had anything to do with your avatar. 
But I'm happy to see you didn't fall down the steps with your sprained knee and wind up in a body cast

I have wondered where you were Lecanis, I have missed you, so you have been up to no good eh, glad to hear it, hope you are feeling much better now. I have to admit my ignorance here but what is Naruto fanfiction? I am curious, and I know sometimes my curiousity gets me into trouble, but hey if you don't ask you never know do you, I could be missing out xxx

Eh, Naruto is an anime (Japanese animation) series involving ninja. It's pretty popular, but it's also very good, and I'm not used to those two things coinciding when it comes to anime.
Fanfiction is stories written by fans about anime, movies, novels, or anything else, basically. So Naruto fanfiction would be stories written by fans in the world of Naruto, or involving Naruto characters.
My particular story that I am writing at the moment is a love story (among other things) involving the character from my avatar and another character from the series (both male). I just wrote my first real smut scene for it. The story isn't finished, but it's pretty normal for fanfiction writers to post one chapter at a time, so mine is being posted that way on my livejournal, and then submitted to a fanfiction community on livejournal as well.
I hope that explanation made some sort of sense.

OK, don't laugh at me, but talk about revealing my secret shame - I don't know what Naruto Fanfiction is but it sounds quite intriguing so I'll have to check it out. I noticed you have another discussion about it which I somehow missed (along with the billions of other discussions I haven't gotten to yet...lol) so I will definitely go read that one too so you don't have to answer a stupid question this dummy should already know the answer to.

Feeling better, thank you! It's not quite back to normal yet, but it's healing nicely.
Writing is indeed something I have a passion for! Once I get started writing something... I just can't stop. My friends on livejournal are all laughing at me because I keep posting a chapter of my fic and then writing more the same day... I'm so obsessed with writing!

My son loves Naruto and would find no shame in your confession.
