I don't find this surprising since a lot of people now read their hometown newspapers online. I think they should have realized it when they started giving people the option that of course we would read it free and not pay to have it delivered in print to our door. The best part about less people buying newspapers is that it helps us stay "green" (I love that term!). Someone in my building subscribes to the NY Times (we live in Boston mind you)there are always at least 3 in the hallway and the maintenance man ends up throwing them away so what good is that? More newspapers in the dump! http://www.news.com/8301-10784_3-9905920-7.html?part=rss&subj=news&tag=2547-1_3-0-20

Yes when you think of it, the newspapers have shot themselves in the foot with regards to loss of sales ha ha. I never bother with newspapers anymore, my hubby buys our local paper, which I think is not worth the paper its printed on, but he likes it. I have one that I read online because I dont have to try and sit in a position that I can hold the paper comfortably plus like you say I do not have to worry about recycling it or anything after. So I am doing my bit for the environment too. I mainly watch the news though of an evening, its much more interesting listening to it than reading it.
