In college I took office administration as a major subject. The shorthand course was Gregg (American) and also American English. So, everything was American style. Our lesson book and my teacher taught us that we must put two spaces after a full stop and one space after a comma. But, nowadays, i don't see anyone putting two spaces after a full stop. I am very confused about this!!! In any internet articles, etc. I see that only one space, after a full stop, is put. What is the correct one? Can anyone tell me?

I still put two spaces after a period, period. Its ingrained in me and I can't type it any other way. The reason you don't see the two spaces now is because of the word processing programs and the advent of computers. No matter how YOU space them, the program may space it another way. In days one by, a space was a space was a space. That's no longer the case.
