The Cherry Blossom Festival starts today in Washington DC

Have you ever been? Washington, DC: Cherry Blossom Festival begins (Mar 29-Apr 13). I only live 90 miles from DC and I have never experienced this. This is on my list do one year. I know some years that Mother Nature doesn't cooperate with the timing of the blossoms. Some of our fruit trees (apriums and pluots) do have blossoms already. I really want to do this since the Japanese gave the cherry trees to DC, since my girls heritage lies in Japan.

I had forgotten about that, thanks for the reminder. We live in Virginia so we might take a drive to DC tommorrow. The cherry blossoms outside our apartment are just beautiful.

We didn't make it yesterday and doubt that we are going to make it this week either. But I see that a friend of yours did from the picture above :) aren't they beautiful!

My Brother Married and settled outside of DC,so I take the opportunity to go visit Him and get a look around the City when I get the chance! I usually travel over to be there before St Patrick's Day (works out good for the Cherry Blossom Festival!) or Thanksgiving.. Last Year I was there,but missed the festival as I travelled later to catch my newest Nephew's Christening in April..DC in March/April can still have a hint of winter laying around-As I recall,it was Freezin coming out of Dulles Airport Domestic Arrivals,As I'd been stuck in New York's Newark Airport having had my connecting flight cancelled the night before Due to a Storm when I arrived! With the right weather,the Cherry Blossoms are worth seeing..
