What book are you currently reading or the last book you read? Did it impact you and in what way? Can you tell me a little about the book? I am trying to get a reading list together for the next several months, and would like to know what other myLotters are reading and if I'd be interested in reading that book. Thanks for all responses.

I havent read a good book in a long time as I am busy trying to write my own, but I found James Patterson to be a great writer. I especially enjoyed reading his Alex Cross novels. They are a great read...:-)

I know what you mean about writing your own...I am sometimes afraid to read while I am working on a novel...I don't want to incorporate someone else's ideas. However, I have found it inspirational during those times to read nonfiction, it keeps me reading. What type of novel are you working on? I am working on an inspirational self help and a historical romance currently. I too enjoy James Patterson, he has a great writing style. Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. Happy writing.

Louis La Amore is a classic in my world. I love most of his books as well. I am in love with the old west. My favorite by him was "Comstock Lode". It was fantastic. I've seen some of the movies, but they just don't do justice to his writing. Thanks my friend for chiming in. Hugs and happy reading.

I am currently reading "No Time For Goodbye" by Linwood Barclay. I haven't been reading a lot lately as I have been concentrating on my writing (and the internet is a major distraction), but what I have been reading I have taken my time reading through the books. However, I have been unable to put this book down. I have been staying up late at night reading and am almost finished it. I love this book and look forward to reading more books by this author.

I just read Vampires are Forever by Lynsay Sands. It's about a Vampire clan who's family owns a huge corporation when their mother goes missing and their cousin Thomas goes out to find her. I thought it was great, i'd definately recommend it. I also love the Ya-Ya sisterhood books i read recently. they're all fantastic!

I am currently reading War and Peace. I haven't got too far, so I can't say much about it. But alot of people have a general idea of what this book is about anyways. It is usually interesting, and it is written in a fantastic way. Because it is so long, it can become boring at times. The words are overly small, and the pages are way too big. But the chapters are only 1 -3 pages long, so I'm thankful for that.

It has been years since I read War and Peace. It is a great novel and so relative. You have made me want to look back at some of the classics I'd like to reread. Thank you very much for your reply and happy reading. I know it goes slow with that novel.

Currently I am reading two books. One is called the Ghost Map by Steven Johnson. It details the events of the last Cholera outbreak in the 1850's in London England. It was a terrifying Epidemic and it details how prevailing scientific bodies ridiculed and dismissed a theory by a Dr. Snow that cholera was caused by contaminated water. At the time it was thought it was airborne. It took a long time to convince the powers to be that he was right and it changed science and cities. It is also a very eclectic book and offers hope that we can change the problems in modern cities. The second book is called The Good Husband of Zebra Drive by Alexander McCall Smith. He is the author of the No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency Series. These are all novels taking place in Botswana. I am a big fan of this series and have read all of them. The above mentioned book is the latest in the series. The others are: The No 1 Ladies Detective Agency Tears of the Giraffe Morality for beautiful girls The Kalahary Typing School for Men The Full Cupboard of Life In the Company of Cheerful Ladies Blue Shoes and Happiness The Good Husband of Zebra Drive Mr. McCall Smith was at one time a professor of law at the University of Botswana. Since I have read these books I have also developed a great fondness of Rooibos tea (red tea). It is an herbal tea from Africa and in the books it is called bush tea. It is very satisfying without milk or sugar and helps in every crisis. Try it sometime.

I am currently re-reading a series of books by R A Salvatore. The series is part of the Forgotten Realms fantasy fiction books, these about a renegade dark elf and the unlikely companions he finds. I love the way Salvatore writes, the stories compelling reading and the characters well rounded and plausable.

Hello creativedreamweaver. Recently, I read, "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert. It was a wonderful book. It had humor and it moved me to tears. It is the story of her "falling apart" emotionally as she realized she did not want to continue in her current life. Thus, she made choices to change, and traveled to Italy, India, and Indonesia to find herself and happiness. It's simply a wonderful book. I hope you read it. Take care. PearlGrace

Another good book is a book by Alice Sebold. A little disturbing and very sad but it will stick with you forever. I read it about 2 years ago. Its about a girl who was raped and murdered watching from heaven how her family & friends deal with her loss and how to "let go" How she worries about her family...and as its told from the girls point of view you it evokes a feeling of what is taken from her and how much shes going to miss. The title is The Lovely Bones There are a lot of schools here now using it as a grade 12 book study now.

I've been reading a series called Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind recently The books in order are Wizards first rule Stone of Tears Blood of the Fold Temple of The Winds Soul of The Fire Faith of the Fallen Pillars of Creation Naked Empire Chainfire Phantom Confessor Its an "epic fantasy" containing magic, wizards, adversity and of course a moral basically along the lines of one can remain true to ones self and others in the face of adversity without sacrificing ethics moral values and beleifs. Its a pretty good series honestly if you arent into having to think about what you read then i wouldnt read it. Id also recommend reading a different book or books between each one so you dont get overwhelmed with the different thoughts/ideas each book is around 800 pages long.

I am currently reading a book called "Second Eden" and don't bother (as if you could find this.) Its kind of like a poor man's Hitchhicker's. Instead, pick up anything by Robert J. Sawyer, Orson Scott Card, Anne MacCaffrey or Mercedes Lackey - even their worst book has to be better than this - its just not bad enough not to finish it and see if it redeems itself.

I am reading Scarlett, the second book that was written bases on Gone With The Wind. I am 3/4 of the way through the book and I have a hard time putting it down once I get going on it. I love the adventure that Scarlett is on in finding herself among people that was the most unlikly. Finding her family that ecepted her for her and no one else. Scarlett finding her freedom in herself. The details are great in the book and I can about imagine being there with the characters. It is a long book, 823 pages, but this is a very much of a page turner book to were you can't wait to get to the next page. I have also read all of th ebook out by James Rollins and they are adventure books with great detail and the way that he mixes fact with fiction is amazing. You always are rooting for the good guys and hoping that the bad guys get what they deserve in the end. They are also great page turners. I have also read most of the V.C. Andrews books. I got behind and now can't remember which books that I have read, last count was arounf 40 of those books. Good luck with your list and everyone has such good ideas.

At the moment i don't have the concentration to read a book, if i at second page i have forgotten what i read on the first one, it's really annoying so i stopped. The last book i have read was by Tess Gerritsen called "Vanish" it's a thriller. If you love to read thrillers, you should try a book by Philip Kerr "Gridiron" , i read it many years ago but it's still in my mind.
