Why do people lie?

It seems that almost everyone lie. For what reason? Depends on the individual. I say lie sometimes because i am afraid that someone will get angry of what I have done. How about you?

i say lies too sometimes ( but really really small ones ) and i think that is normal but i dont understand people that lie everysingle day 24/7 , i mean seriously they think something and the say a comlete different thing when the talk ...i guess they have nothing better to do

Of course, we all know that lying is bad. However, there are times when we are caught in a situation wherein we do not have any choice but to lie. For instance, we arrive late for work because probably we woke up late. More often than not, we would lie about the reason why we came in late. There may be more examples similar to this. Not that I am saying that lying is correct. It's just that there are times when we do not have any choice but to lie. This, however, should not be a reason for us to keep lying. There is nothing better than the truth.
