Why women color their hair...?

March 30, 2008 3:42pm CST
I colored my hair only for tree times in my life and these at my mother insistences who want her teen-ager girl to look great (like she said). It happened in the year when i was 18. Now i am on my count and i have my natural hair. I would color it just to be on a part with everybody, but i have luck with my husband who say that it looks good and he don't let me to color it. Why women color their hair before to get white? This make you to feel much better?

i like to use henna natural herbal coloring to cover the gray and keep my hair one color...it is very natural and similar to my natural hair color that no one notices i have anything on my hair anyway. and my hair looks natural but with a rich tone and natural highlight.

Mothers Market, ethnic grocery stores, like hindi stores and middle eastern grocery stores. my natural hair color is chestnut brown with red undertones and highlighs...so the chestnut brown and red henna looks natural on me. just gives me a richer overall tone and red highlights where the gray was. i have never colored my hair before...so i have never put the chemical stuff in my hair...my mother originally got me started on coloring my hair as soon as it went gray...so since i shop natural stuff, i thought i would try henna for fun and see what it looked like on me...and i liked it...(everyone's hair is different and absorbs henna differently..so people should try it themselves to see what looks like on them...dont base it on other's experiences...) i have fine hair and henna absorbs it more on more and stays a little long on my hair.

I color my hair for myself not for anyone else, I would never let anyone tell me I had to color my hair. I have to say the only reason, I ever started coloring my hair is due to the fact that I started getting gray hair when I was 16, even though I feel as if it does make you look sexy I just did not want to look sexy at 16, sorry that was just not me. Now I color my hair for myself, My husband does not mind at all, he tells me I can do what ever I want and he does not mind, do things for your self not for others, you are the only one that has to feel good about you, my thing is if you dont feel good about yourself then NO ONE else will feel good about you. You must like your self before anyone else will like you.

I agree with you, but it seems that i take in considerations too many opinions about me, especially opinions which cames from appropriates persons. The truth is that i feel good in my skin, with my hair uncolored, even if i live in this world where it is said that a hair without color is not beautiful.

When I was younger I used to colour my hair, just to improve myself (as we used to say), because that was the world we were living in those days and everyone was doing it. Or better said didn`t coloured it just did highlights. But it wasn`t that often maybe 3times a year. At that time it did make me feel better. My natural colour is sort of like ash, so not very interesting and sometimes my hair look dull. But since I have had my baby I don`t colour my hair that often, only on occasion, like my own wedding and so. But if I do it i always choose colour product that is gentle with my hair.

I don't know too much from this area because like i said i coloured my hair only tree times in my life, so i don't know what products would be gentle with my hair. Actually, this is my problem, if i will colour my hair i have to continue to do this all the time and i am afraid to deteriorate my hair.
