I have an 7 month old Compaq PC and at start up or reboot it has a pink color to the screen. This only lasts for a couple of seconds then becomes normal white. Should I be worried?. What could cause this as it has only been happening for the past few days. Can anyone please help me.

Hi Whiteheather! I thought it was something to do with your backlight but didn't want to say anything til I had gotten real advice! I have been told by people in the know that it is indeed a sign that the backlight needs replaced - the fact that it only lasts a few seconds is probably an indication that it is just starting to go ! I know no one can be 100% sure without seeing your laptop but I would suggest you get it repaired now whilst it is still under warranty (I hope) as it can be very expensive to have any repairs done on a laptop! Good Luck hen! xxx

Thanks for the info. I am keeping my eye of it as I was told yesterday that if it continued I would get a new monitor under the warranty. BTW You brought a big smile to my face I have not been called "Hen" in many, many years. Now I'm getting a wee bit homesick.

hi whiteheather...the pink screen is usually a sign of problem with the monitor itself...you said it turn back to normal well thats good you can still use the monitor...same problem with my monitor before it turns pink and back to normal, but after quite some time...the pink screen didn't disappear so i suggest change the monitor... ^_^

Hello whitheather, does it suite ones personality? cause mine is red from bootup to shutdown. Normally its just the connectors when its not properly plugin or loose. I hope I'm wrong but I think is a .beep.beep. about to happen. But it's only 7 months old maybe you could still use its service warranty.
