I don't know if you are familiar with the Polly Klass case that happened in California about 15 years ago. Richard Allen Davis kidnapped the young girl from her bedroom and proceeded to rape and kill this 12 year old girl. She was missing for several days before they found this sweet child's body along the freeway. Richard Allen Davis was convicted and given the death sentence and to this day he still sits on deathrow. He has been on deathrow longer than his victim lived. During those years he has received three meals a day, a bed and a roof over his head. All the while Polly's family, friends, neighbors and people like myself have suffered with her loss. You have to wonder about the justice in that. How can it be that some one can commit such a vicious act and be allowed to live, after being sentenced to death, longer than his victim did? How do you feel about that?

This is a sore point in so many countries. It is hard to understand why tax payers must continue to pay for the living expenses of someone who has no regards for other human life.
I often wonder if the various governments and human rights groups are not making the connection between this pratice and the rise in criminal activity. The are so many offenders who do not mind sitting in prison for some time as they might just make it back out on good behaviour or the system might just mess up and provide them with a means of escape. What do they have to worry about?'yea I killed someone but look at me those suckers may cry because of their loss but they still have to help to pay for my maintenance here in prison.
Its like double punishment for the victims. That person will always continue to hurt them because it will forever be on the fore front of their minds that the perpitrator is still alive and worst yet their hard earned money is being used to keep the criminal that way.
I strongly believe that if the punishments were harsher then less crimes would be committed. Its about time the officials realise that the present system is not working. Its just becoming a haven for more and more hardened criminals who would kill again at the drop of a hat.
I just hope ands pray that one day the familty of this little girl and all who hurt will receive justice and the killer what he deserves. (lol)

Very well stated and you made some very good points that I agree with. I also think that the punishment should fit the crime. I think if the punishment was far more unpleasant we would see a lowering in crime. Let's face it the crime rate is unreal but when punishments were harsher and quickly dealt the rate was lower.

i think the longer it takes to kill him the better, once you kill him his problems are over ,so let the scumbag sit and rot in a 6by 6 room for as long as they can and let him suffer and wonder when the kill day will be there ,so let him rot as long as possible then kill the scumbag...
