Is cake necessary during birthday party?

It is necessary for me when the party is celebrated with kids. But nowadays, mostly professional workers celebrate bithdays in cocktail style or celebrated with wine for busy people. Cake is necessary only if it is culturally part of the family's birthday celebration.

I think the cake is unnecessary for the birthday party. Birthday party is just a meeting which you can invit your friends to play together, the main goal is let everybody happy, as long as people are happy, and the key person receive the blessing from others, that's enough, so, the cake is unnecessary.

I do not think cakes are so important when it is an adults birthday, I know it never bothers me if I do not have a cake. Although if it was a special birthday like a 21st or something then I would probably get them a cake. I always get a cake for my childrens birthdays though.
