How do you refrain from worrying?

I am remembering that song: "Don't Worry, Be happy". When that song came out, I wound up seeing earrings that looked like white political buttons... one had on it "Don't Worry" and the other had "Be Happy." I am wondering how do you refrain from worrying so you can indeed be happy.

The best way to refrain from worrying is to indulge in work.

That's a nice question.Yes, when are free from work all the worrying thoughts would bounce back collectively, which may give rise to head aches, insomnia etc.,However psychologists suggest one sure fire method to tackle worrying. One has to during anytime convenient in a day allocate at least 1/2 an hour time only for worries. During this time we have to remember and call back to consciousness all the worries we have.If necessary one can write them down. We have to let them pass as they crop up. At end of the period perhaps one can feel a little light. Initially it may be inconvenient to consciously think of worries. But upon practice the problem could be solved. Exercise can also tire the mind and body making it less prone to worrying.

It seems so far that a lot of people deal with worries by keeping busy working... wondering what happens then when people go to bed and are not working.. does the sleep come easy?

I see that working will keep you from worring so much. I am a chronic worrier, so I was hoping to get some insight here on how "not to worry". Things can be going along just fine and out of the blue I get this sick feeling in my tummy like something is wrong. I then will worry about every thing one could possibly think of. One way that I have learned to deal with "not worrying" is to read. When I am reading it seems to help "block out" the world and I may get tired and sleepy from reading so long, I do forget about the worrying for a while.

If I could increase your number, I would... I wonder if you have been responding to others' posts in your discussions and going in your unresolved discussions and marking best answers... This should increase your rating and change the star color eventually too. Perhaps going to edit your preferences and adding a photo avitar from your computer (downloaded like mine from a free site on the net) might help you too. Good luck to you.

Hi whiteheron, If you have more time with you then you start thinking and that makes you brood over past happenings. If you do not have idle time then you will not have time to think. haven't you heard the proverb that " Idle minds are devil's workshop" Do not brood over what has happened. Think about what will happen in the future and present. Just see how you can improve your life. Change your past habits a bit day by day. You can dfo it. If you keep yourself busy you'll be happy. If you are tired or stressed out listen to the music or play with pets or kids etc. Do something which you enjoy. Watching stars also is a therapy. Have you tried that out? All the best

I must admit, I am lucky, I don't worry a whole lot unless something big is coming up that I must deal with... then it is only until I gear up to do what I need to do... once there is action, the worry goes away. I though work with a lot of people who worry a lot and was wanting ideas about other things to do with them... I like your suggestions.... Focus on the present... is a good suggestion. Not sure about focusing on the future as some people worry about that over much... "what will happen, oh no," etc. you mention seeing how the life can be improved and gradually making improvements... good suggestion. Listening to music and playing with pets and kids and watching the star... all great suggestions.. Thanks for them.

The only reason people get worried is when things don't pan out the way they intended it too.Everyone is worried at some point in their life but the important aspect is how you tide over it ?. The best way that i am following is to learn new things in life so to keep myself busy or you can think of those things that has worked out in flying colours without much effort . with regards www.chocolatesavy.com
