temples in chennai

There are number of temples situated in the city and suburbs of chennai that are worth a visit for its architecture splendour and sculptural marvel. The most popular temples are Devi karumariamman temple; at thiruverkadu; Kamatchi Amman temple at Mangadu; Marudheeswarar temple, Thiruvanmiyur; Sri jaganath temple, kanathyr and the jain temple in vepery. There are several murugan temples in and around chennai. Some of the more pOpular temples are at Kundrathur, Thiruporur and Chrompet. The Vishnu Temples are at Thirumazhisai. iruvanmiyu and Thiruneermalai.

Parthasarathy temple Sri Parthasarathy temple, devoted to Lord Krishna, was originally built by the pallavas in the 8th century and renovated in the 16th century by the Vijanagaras. It houses the five 'avatars' of Lord Vishnu and has a small temple shrine dedicated to Vishnu's coinsort, vedavalli Amman. Its one of the oldest surviving temples in Chennai.

Dear Jothram, Have you been to Thiruneermalai Vishnu temple? There Lord Vishnu is in his Ananthasayanam pose. It is a very old marveland is on a hill. You have also left out Vada Palaniandavar koil at Vadapalani. It is also famous and is very well known in Chennai. All the best

You have forgot the most famous temple. Kapaleeshwarar temple in Mylapore. Lord Kapaleeshwarar and Lordess Karpagambal are favourites for many.
