Does anyone else get screwed on their cell phone bill?

I have a cellphone through Sprint/Nextel and I have the power pack which includes 450 anytime minutes. I just opened my bill for last month and it says that I went over 202 additional minutes and they charged me .45 per minute which is $90.90. I can not believe it. I barely get 200 minutes used in a month, and know all of a sudden I used 652 minutes. This nice little statement at the bottom just made me even more mad........Your account has incurred overage and we may need to adjust your service plan to fit your needs.. call Customer Service to review your plan......Is that how they make extra money. I am so getting online and taking a look at my account to see where this minutes came from, but first I just wanted to ask if anyone else has minutes they don't use show up on their cell phone bills. Let me know

I use card pay before I call. So I only use phone to calls or send messages around money I have into my account. Average I usually use only $3 per month because I'm a student. So I don't use too much.

Your profile says you live in Ohio same as me. I have a cricket phone, there are no limit on minutes you pay one flat fee and for $60. a month i get all the minutes I want to use free, all long distance is free, 411 directory lookup is free, I have internet access, call return and call waiting. All for $60. I can talk to who I want when I want and the bill never changes. Maybe you should look into it see if it is in your area.Yes isn't it convient that all of a sudden you have all these over the plan minutes and now you need to up grade to a higher plan. With cricket the phones are from $49. to what ever you want to pay for one, it really is a good way to have cell phone service you don't have to count the minutes.

I live 8 miles south of Dayton and the service is good now, used to have to get in the car and drive to center of town, but they put up new towers and now it workds great. You can' beat the price and if you just want local and long distance it is just $30. a month. $60 is the highest and you get everything with it. we are in Bellbrook just about a mile east of Centerville and we are down in a hole and it works good. Check it out

I also have Sprint and I had the 1400 plan and because of my boys my minutes would run over and I have 2 lines. To see where the calls where made or a list of that there were incoming calls (are not listed by phone number) but you can go onto www.sprintpsc.com to see the whole list and your bill can also be sent to you on email. I would call them after you check all of the phone numbers and tell them if you called them places or not. I stopped getting the bill sent to me because it would be over 50 pages sometimes. Did anyone get ahold of you phone and use it without you knowing? I hope that you get it figured out. I don't have a home phone, so my cell is my main phone. I just switched to the Simple plan for $99.99 a month, dropped my other phone, which hubby has and really only calls me and added the cell to cell, to 200 minutes a month and I have my data card on my bill. It will help me a lot having unlimited minutes and such because then I don't have to tell my boys, watch the minutes, or we are almost out. I hated the overage charges that I had every month because it would cost me an extra $100 - $200 extra for the overage.

Thanks for letting me now the website. I too also have 2 boys who are going to be wanting cell phones here shortly, and I don't even want to think of the bill then.....lol....I don't think anybody got ahold of my phone, unless my 3 year old got ahold of it somehow, but I didn't see any numbers in my phone that looked odd or out of sort. I will check the internet though,.

Yes, I did and I had numbers on there I never heard about, after being on the phone with 3 different people I was finally able to get some of them taken off of there. I was furious with them because they kept insisting that I called these numbers. I knew I had not, because I am the only one to use my phone. My phone bill is still $100, because they couldn't take all of them off of there so they said. They said they will watch for any additional calls that may look suspicous....in other words next month I will probably have same problem

We have had it many times, you have to be so careful how you use them and for how long and what for. I remember when I gave birth to our second son, my hubby phoned all the family just to let them know, there was no way he used his full allowance on it, but the phone bill came in at £180.00, sorry do not know what this is in dollars, but it is an awful lot of money. We had a really hard time paying for that. We still have a mobile phone on contract but we are just more careful with it and do not use it unless we have to and my hubby always makes sure that he knows his usage on it.

I don't recall making anymore calls than normal....I don't know, I just opened it and was taken aback. Couldn't believe it. I don't have a home phone just a cell phone, but with nights and weekend free, it shouldn't have been the much, and it doesn't show that I made calls after 7pm which is when free nights start.

Sprint is a terrible company to have a cellphone with and an even worse a terrible company to try and get rid of. I hate that company and will never go back. Here's my story: I recently (6 months ago) moved in with my Fiance. The county we live in is very small and does not have any cellular phone towers. One day I had decided that I would terminate service with sprint because I no longer used the phone because of no service. I call them up and it takes me atleast one hours and 6 different call represenatives later (not to mention three different phone numbers) to finally be able to terminate the contract. I was not very pleased to say the least. At the time I also had my address changed through sprint so that I would be able to receive the final bill at my new residence. The lady was very helpful and told me that I would be able to do that quickly. She entered my new address into the system. I awaited the allocated time (which i believe to be a week or so after the bill was due)in anticipation of the final bill. It never came. I called them up and was informed that my address was never changed. I was furious, but stayed calm and gave my new address to yet another representative. I received my final bill and my blood boiled. The amount was $20.00 over the amount I had been expecting (and this is taken into consideration that I was waived $3.00 because of the error in addresses) I called the company promptly and registered a complaint, or at least I tried. The manager was always on a conference call. I tried talking to numerous people and explain my clear and plain reasoning but to no avail. I finally hung up the phone to find a equally as furious fiance. Needless to say I paid the bill that was due. I also forgot to mention that I was hung up on by one woman.

Wow!!! and that is putting it mildly.. I just got this contract in Feb. so I hate to see what will happen from now on. So sorry you had so much trouble. I go through the same thing, because when you move it seems that the company you currently have doesn't work where you are moving to.....They all should have 1 tower that works everywhere.

I have also meant to mention that I have had conflict on the bill itself. It seems as if they do try to screw you over. So sad for a company that is so popular. It's like a love hate relationship with sprint... they create new and zazzy phones that seem to come out before any other company yet they screw you on your bill to fund for it. Sometimes the cellphones turn out to be crap on their own. I had the flip phone (the phone made popular by beyonce.)and it was an annoyance more then anything. I sold it for $50 (very considerate, because the phone cost me alot more then the price I sold it) Another thing I hate, and i'm sorry to rant, is that the good phones are not under rebate!

That is why I started with Cingular, too bad now they are AT&T, but at least they still offer roll over minutes. We have two phones on our plan, and haven't had to worry about overages, but my brother in-law is with Verizon and has the same problem you are describing too. Currently with our plan we have like I said two phone to share 850 between, but we get free calls to any AT&T phone and free mobile to mobile. It has kept our phone bill down. Every so often we use more than the 850 we get, but we have had an average of 3,000 roll over minutes for the last year. We lose as many minutes each month as we gain, as they expire 12 months from rolling over.

I used to have cingular, but it seems where I live you never have service. And with my fiance having direct connect I thought that with us two waying each other it would help, but it says I only had 6 seconds of direct connect, which I know is not true. I think any cell phone company anymore kinda gets out of hand with charges. Hopefully I can get it straightened out. Thanks

That was the number one reason I spent the $500 dollars to get out of there contract. It actually saved me money in the end. I paid extra for a plan to have all incoming call be free, needless to say that didn't work out to well. They actually called me and said it seems like you are asking people to call you. We see a lot of outgoing calls that are 1 minute long then see the same number incoming and its 30 or 40 minutes long. You can't do that! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?! I cancelled at that point. Good luck spend the 250 to get out it will save you in the end!

I have had issues with Sprint before and I can agree with you whole heartedly. I have billing problems EVERY month with that company and they can better believe that when I am done with my contract in a year, I am taking my 4 phones and my business elsewhere. Their billing department is a horror to deal with-- no one will answer the same question twice. Look over your billing statement carefully and add up your minutes if you can. Be very persistent with the problem. Thats what I do and I get my issues worked out, even though we as customers should not have to deal with their crap and their customer service. Thank you for posting this, I have wanted to do this for a while.

Oh I got so mad after I got my last phone that they threatened to pass the call to a supervisor and I said go ahead, I dont want to talk to you any more. The girl would not listen to what I was saying and it pissed me off enough to use expletives. I've never done that before, I'm usually reserved because I was on the phones for a long time, but these people drove me to the edge.

I used to work for Verizon Wireless... no longer with them but I have sprint service and have had it for almost 5yrs and never have I been screwed on my mins. I know for a fact that digital phones (which is what all cell phone companies use now) log the calls very accurately and that there is no way to manipulate the system and add mins to anyones line. I've had customers call in when I worked at Verizon claiming the same thing and which numbers they did not know. I ended up calling all the numbers and they were for restaurants or something that they completely forgot they called. A month is a long time to remember every single call u made. So I'd say you definitely used those mins!! :)

Most of the numbers that I found where out of state calls and there is nobody that I call out of state. I talked with the company and they credited some of the numbers but not all. You are right sometimes you forget, but when I saw these numbers they did not look at all familiar. Thanks

My husband and I also have sprint/nextel. Ours is a family plan w/ 1 phone added for our daughter. When we received our fist bill I went into shock. I hadn't realized how much the kids text these days. There were more than $ 50.00 USD in charges for texting! You can bet I was on the phone making adjustments. We ended up getting 800 minutes per month anytime use, unlimited texting ($15.00 mo. ) for daughters line only, free usage from 7am - 7pm and weekends, talk between 3 of us free unlimited, and $ 5.00 for every 50 minutes we go over the 800 minutes in plan. We don't go over very often but just in case...even though daughter texts like crazy she still managed to use more than 500 of our minutes last month. I used a whole 12 minutes myself. I mostly use it to keep in touch w/ hubby so that doesn't cost extra. All in all I must say we don't feel we get a good deal...our bill totals out to $150.00 per month. Our contract expires in June of this year we'll have to have to start looking around to see if we can get better.

I didn't even sign up for the text because I don't use it. I still keep receiving text messages from people I don't even know and they cost me .20 cents a message. Just for me my bill was $138.59, and it usually runs around $60, I don't understand how they can also have $10 is government taxes and fees, and separate sprint surcharges. Now I understand why we as an economy are in crisis.

We really do not have problems with our cell phones. The only time we went over was during hurricane Katrina and we were comped all those minutes by t-mobile (they also paid our cell bills for 3 months which was nice). If you normally don’t go over your minutes just read you bill and find out why you went over. Did you get into a car accident? Have to move? Start dating anyone new? Or do anything else that would cause you to use your cell more? The bill should be pretty easy to read. The first page should be the charges and the following pages details on who you called and for how long. If you think you will keep going over, you should probably add more minutes or find out if sprint has one of those deals that when you do go over, they add extra minutes to your plan for a flat rate. Personally, I hate sprint. They have horrible customer service and I was screwed over by them. I called and fond out when my plan was to expire, then changed services to a new company and cancelled with Sprint. A month late I find out that they automatically signed me up for another 2 years without me knowing. They tried to hit me with a $800 bill.

You went through Katrina, wow.....sorry if you lost anything of personal value.... As for the bill, it doesn't show my usage by number, it just shows, how many minutes I used. They make you pay for a bill that shows all outgoing and incoming calls. I really don't like Sprint either its just that my fiance through his work has push to talk and it was easier to get same plan to be able to talk with him.

I am being screwed every time I use my phone!! LOL....I know that just by the fact of how hard is to understand the bill...everything is all over the place and it makes no sense and when you call them, they dont know either!!!! They must make it difficult to read so that we dont know what they are really doing....my bill often looks suspicious but no one can ever answer my questions.....They told me it would be cheaper for me to get rid of my landline phone and go with just a cell phone, which I did, and now I am paying more for just the cell!!! They are ripping people off, I know they are....
