I have some flowers to grow but i dont know if i want to yet. I live in a fourplex and the flowers i will grow will more likely be for experiance than anything. I never grown my own garden yet, but i want to practice before we get our own place so I dont mess things up. I want an herbal and vegetable garden too but those might have to wait till we get our own place. What do you think i should do? Should i go ahead and plant these flowers here, or just keep the seeds until we get our own place?

Go ahead and plant away! Many people grow indoor, or deck gardens. You can grow many things in pots and planters when you don't have a plot of land to use. Personally I grow marigolds each year. (Although I was lazy last year and didn't get to it)
But I grow them in pots because I want to be able to arrange them around the deck or patio or where ever we sit outside - marigolds are good at keeping mosquitos away.
I just bought a big package of assorted seed packs from Walmart and I plant 3 seeds in little cups (you know those condiment cups - the tall ones - you often get from carry-out places - those are great to use. So are Chuck-E-Cheese token cups - they even have holes for drainage!) Once the seedlings have grown tall enough to replant I put them in big pots - about 2-3 per pot.
Walmart has plastic pots for real cheap and in all different sizes. I also use the "Expert" brand potting soil from Walmart. It's an orange bag. (The cheaper kind I don't like because it's too fluffy and doesn't soak up water the way regular dirt does.) The orange bag stuff works great so in my opinion, no need to upgrade to expensive MiracleGro either. My marigolds got really tall in their pots and had lots of long-lasting blooms.
Herbs can grow great in pots too. I say go for it and let this be an experiment to you. You can develop your own methods of pot gardening.

If money is tight just use whatever you can find. Plastic containers from different food packages can be used as pots. If you drive around new housing developments you can often find big piles of black dirt and nab a bit of it.
And like I said, check out Walmart - or your equivalent. The pots I buy are like $2.00 each, the big bag of potting soil is about $8.00

I havent started working in the flower beds or gardens yet. Its too early here in Ohio. I think you should plant your seeds, if they are just annuals they will only last for the season anyways. If you dont want to take the time to care for them this year, then perhaps you should wait till you have your own place if its soon enough. Some seeds will last for a while before they dry out.

Annuals are probably the best thing to plant right now, at least you won't have to root them up when you move. Periennials come up year after year. That is mostly what I have in my flower beds. I do buy a few annuals each year. I have some favorites.

I actually have things started indoors. Here's a shot of the green beans. I have a couple discussions started actually about my indoor prep for a Minnesota Spring garden. I say plat the flowers and learn about things growing then you'll be ready for the outdoor garden(s).
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Well sweety I do not take after my Grandad - he was an amazing Gardner but i have a brown thumb instead of a green one! My other half and 6 year old daughter do all the gardening but then again Niamh has always loved Gardening and she is always 'helping' my friends partner who really knows what he is doing! I think they planted potatoes the other day and these always taste better when they are home grown! I would give it a shot sweety as you say it will be good practise and if you sow them in a large planter and pots and things you can always take them to your new place with you! xxxx

yes i could do that, I have a green thumb the three plants that i have are inside plants except for the english ivy that doesnt do good inside b/c it needs lots of sun. but they are actually growing real big and pretty and i dont know what i do to make them so green, when i go to other peoples houses with ivys and they look chinky and have yellow leaves everywhere. I dont do anything differant than anyone else. maybe its the energy comeing off of me.
