We can't wait to take our daughter to Disney World. She is only three now but we want to start saving money to go and be able to stay at a nice place, see everything, etc. What do you feel is the ideal age to first take a child to visit Disney World and why? Share your stories/opinions. Thank you!

Hi.. I will suggest you bring your daughter to Disney World she's around 8 years old. That's also one of my plans if Im going to have a baby. Disney world is a must see enchanted place of any children. I went in Disneyland Hongkong when I was 21 going 22 years old yet I still felt the magic when I entered the place. Its like being drifted into a the land of fantasy where dreams come true and one cant resist being a childlike--dreaming and believing. Oh how I wish to visit the Disney world in Paris. It must be better than the one in HK.

I'm planning a trip to Disney World for 2011 when my two boys will be 5 1/2 y/o and 3 1/2 y/o. I know that especially the younger one probably won't remember the trip but I just think around 6 is that magical age when they are still sort of babies and believe in all the magic. And I know at that age he might just actually believe that adult in the giant costume really is Mickey Mouse. I know we will make at least one other trip within 5 years after that because we want to have at least one more child and so I want the youngest and any not born yet to have that magical experience too. We will probably do everything we can to cut costs, but I can't imagine not going at least twice. I went only once in my life, I was 2 1/2. i sadly don't remember anything but I have pictures of the trip. My husband got to go a few times from early childhood to when he was a teenager. He agrees we need to get there more than once. I guess in a way it will be a first trip for me too.

I agree that 6 is a "magical" age. They still believe in all things "magical". Have fun on your "first trip" too!!

My grandchildren went when they were six and four. The elder one, a boy, left this world at the age of seven, and another granddaughter was born to the family a year later, so the younger one was then, almost six. When the younger one reached three, the older one, now almost nine, started saying she wanted to go back, and take the little one to see all the wonderful things she had the previous time. So, they started to save, and managed to make the trip when the little one was five, and the older one eleven. I don't think they'll ever forget it. The elder girl is sixteen now, and the younger will be eleven this year, and they still talk about it, and get the photographs out. I don't think it matters what age you are, or when you first go. Disney World etches itself on your memory, and you'll always want to go back, so I'd say, whenever you have accumulated the money and she can take advantage of a lot of the rides and attractions. Brightest Blessings.

Thank you for sharing your special story. I totally agree that Disney "etches itself into our memory" I have so many great memories of Disney World from my childhood too!

You're quite welcome, and I hope I've helped you to decide in some way. I don't think the "magic" will ever leave any child's memory... they're never too young and never too old, I feel.

Perhaps 6 years old is a nice age for a child to go to Disney World. At least they grow up a little and they will remember this trip.

Honestly between 6-10 would be the best age. They do not have that much for toddlers to do at Disney believe it or not. I have lived in Orlando my whole life so trust me on this. I have a daughter who will be 3 this year and we get Sea World passes instead. She absolutely loves it. They can interact with the animals and they have a really nice waterpark across the street with an awesome area for kids of all ages. I would definitely wait on disney though.

Oh my, I totally fogot about Sea World. We will have to add that to our list of things to do while we are there. I loved Sea World when I went when I was young. It's an amazing place to see all the sea life up close and personal. Thanks for the reminder about Sea World!!

we went to disney world with my three year old. it was a family trip of about 13 people so her age was not our biggest consern. i was 30 and never been to disney world so i was thinking, i don't want to miss the chance of going with the whole family and for my first time too. i have to say we all had a great time. she was young enogh that is all magic. she is metting mickey, goofy and snow white for real. the great part was there is pleanty to do for a little one just been there is a treat, the parades are awsome for a little one. she still took her nap in the stroller (a good full reclining jogging stroller is a most), she falled a sleep so hard that i try to wake her up for a loud parade that was right on front of us and no look. that gave us time to ride more grownup rides, tower of terror, rocknroller coaster... it help a lot that grandma and papah could keep an eye on her, since they didn't care for scary rides. but anyway they have parentswap one of you make the line and get 2 passes one for the other parent and other person to ride with them, then you take your pass and go to the front of the line. you don't have to miss out on any fun. anyway the pictures are priceless and our memories of her enjoing disney too. she does not remember much, but we do. also the family planned to go again two years later and since we were back from disney everytime she makes a wish, she wishes that she can go back to disney world when she is five. i think she doesn't remember the trip, but she remembers the magic. one more year to go...and if i could i take her this year too. we can't wait. ps:staing in the cheap place is not bad, we only sleapt and took showers in our rooms, we where out and about from early morning to night.

I would say around the age of 8. They are old enough to remember but still young enough to want to believe in all the magic. They are also then old enough to go on most of the rides where as a toddler isn't. I know I first went when I was 8 and I still remember it. It was great and that was back when you still had "E" tickets. We took my niece when she was 3 but she doesn't really remember that trip. We took her again when she was 9 and that one she remembers and she really enjoyed it a lot more. I'd say you have time to save up for the trip.

As a big Mickey fan, I would have to say that any age is great for Disney! Even though, young children may not remember everything when they get older, the experience is still there. I was 3 years old when I went to Disney the 1st time and I do remember little bits of it. What I do remember specifically is what a happy place it was and how exciting it was to be there. As you already know, children (even babies) are like sponges and they absorb so much. An experience like Disney will be unforgettable to any child at any age. They may not remember specific details in 20 years but they will remember the great experience they felt. Its also a memorable experience for you, as a parent to see your child experience the rides, meeting Mickey and just having fun and its different at every age. My children are 6 months and 21 months and we plan on taking them in August for the 1st time. I have been lucky enough to watch my niece and nephews experience Disney several times at all different ages and every time has been memorable! Good luck on your trip!

I would say 8-10. The reason is that my sister was about 4 and doesn't remember going to Disneyland (you know, the one in California.) I was 8, and was able to ride most of the rides I wanted to and didn't tire out as badly as I would have at 6. My brother was 10 and I think he remembers even more than I do. Besides, the more $$ you have, the more fun she'll have.

it is better after six years as that is the age the memory power start in children so they can enjoy a lot and imprint in brain

I Will say that any age is really fine. I will say as long as they are about 1 at least. This is a great experience for a kid to have. I know I have been to disney world a couple of times. They were some good experiences. I really have nothing to complain about!!!!

This is somewhere we really want to take our children, but I am of the mind that I want them to be old enough to at least remember it. My youngest is only 2 and so it would be pointless for her as she would remember nothing. I have 4 children and so when we go it is going to cost a lot of money, I guess if I start putting a bit by and then aim to go when she is around 7 or 8 then I should have saved enough and she would also remember it. But then my eldest would be about 22 or 23 and would probably not want to come, and I really wanted to take him, So it is hard to get it right!!

I think somewhere between 6 - 12. It really depends on the interests of the child though. If they like rides, they'll probably still be okay at the 12-14 age, but they aren't going to likely get much out of the characters and all that kind of stuff. Younger kids seem to get more wrapped up in the imagination aspect.

My Kids are all grown and away, but if I was thinking of taking a kid to Disney world I think 24 would be about the right age. At this age they are big enough to go on the rides alone and can Pay their own way. A 24 yr old is not going to get scared or lost, and if they do, you don't have to worry, they will find their way back to Dad and Mom. If Dad and Mom get lost, you have an ace in the hole!No one is going to molest your 24 yr old child in the washroom (and thats a Big relief! Your child would be able to spell you off on the driving down and back. If the child has a Job (and most do at this age) They might even pay your way in too. Who Knows?

My oldest when when she was a baby, but that trip wasn't really for her. We took her when she was three and she had a great time. She loved the rides, the parades, the characters, everything! Just because she doesn't remember it now doesn't mean that it wasn't a great experience at the time! She stayed awake the whole day all the way through the fireworks and as soon as that was over she fell asleep!

I think between 7 1/2 and 10 is the best age to go! I think the ideal age would be 9 though. Good for you for starting to save now! :)
