Well, here goes my list. 5. Bon Jovi, good act of faith for Bon Jovi to refuse an award for individual artist arguing that he is in a band. lol 4. Metallica, hmmmm, a little too unconventional is really headturner 3. Led Zeppelin, band that defined what 'band' is actually, well, a 'band' 2. Aerosmtih, very very popular, talented, versatile, well, what can i say 1. Queen, all band mates are music genius? is it true? well, i think it shows in their music. my all time favorite

nice list i agree queen is a great band...bon jovi not so much in my opinion only because im not a big fan of swithing genres like they did and doing more what sounds to me like country...here recently i hated the fact that robert plant did the crossroads country thing with allison krause but that genre crossing seems to be the new thing

Yup I agree. One of the reasons why Bon Jovi was nearly considered a solo artist was because he was crossing over to genres which aren't exactly like we were used to seeing him. I think there was even a point he was being considered a 'pop artist' for the tempo of his song. Well, I like him still because of the timbre of his voice, and the fact that they did well before experimenting on this 'crossover' - if they are in fact aware that their music underwent an eventual crossover, or if they would in fact consider the significant change of their music to be crossover or mere reinvention - thing. Which brings me, ironically, to remembering that there was in fact once a time Bon Jovi 'dissed' Bryan Adams for crossing over to 'bubblegum pop' with collaborations with Melanie C (former Spice girl) and Barbra Streisand (of all divas), and well, Celine Dion (the diva of divas). Bon Jovi may not have known, I don't know, that his music was bordering on leaving the 'rock' genre.

good point that also reminds me of another wonderful band the eagles who have pretty much completely gone country....now dont get me wrong there are a few old country artist i think are some of the greatest musicians of all time but im just not fond if it for some reason.....even the boss himself bruce springsteen seems to be heading in that direction with his new album which to be fair i really havent heard much of yet

i think your top band list is perfect although i have not heard about the last two bands.for me the best solo artist would be michael jackson and joe satriani combined .Then i will rate opeth followed by pearl jam. lastly i will rate angel dust also very highly.
