This reveals a truth about value-exchange (whether you value the money or -the gold). It simplifies down to some very-basic stuff, like: do YOU want the gold? is there anything YOU can do with it (like pawning it)? Would THAT be more-profitable than 'sending it away in the HOPES that the people whom you send it to can melt it down & use it BETTER & send YOU some money'? I would weigh the gold (without any 'jewelry' attached) & write the 'massive gold thing'-people to tell them the weight & get back an offer.

Here is my take on it. If you pay for a kit that you then fill with your broken gold, you are taking a big chance on even getting any money back. Why would they pay you when you already were suckered into sending them your gold? I personally think this is nothing but a scam.
