Tonsills x2 How on earth did this happen to me?!

Well when I was 18 years old I had my tonsils removed due to illnesses I was getting. The surgery went fine and recover was about 4 weeks. After 2 months of being tonsil free I felt this lump growing in the back of my throat. I returned to the doctor and he said that they had started to grow back. After researching things I've come to realize only 2% of people who have their tonsils out happen to have them grow back. The only reason for this is the DOCTOR never took them out properly. 3 years later I return to a new doctor here in Winnipeg ( I'm from Thunder Bay.) because I started to notice when I was talking it felt like I had something in my mouth like food and I had to cough to re-adjust how my tonsil was sitting on my tongue. I also got tonsillitis many times after the first surgery. So my new doctor had put me on a list to have them removed AGAIN. I don't know why I agreed.. I guess I forgot how much pain I went threw the first time. The doctor said that it would be about 6months before I could get in. 3 weeks later I received a call asking if I could go for the surgery. Looking at the calender I realized hey its March break.. a kid must have canceled. So I agreed and went in and had them removed again. This time hurt 4 times more then the first time, but it was well worth it. The doctor was very informative and supportive. Its only been about 4 weeks since I've had the surgery but im feeling a lot better and pray to god that I don't have to EVER go through that again. A tonsillectomy at any age over 12 is VERY painful. I'm not sure why? Maybe because you can remember the pain, you understand whats going on, I don't know why. But if your family doctor suggest that yourself or a child has this done, I say do it while there young and they wont hate you as much after!! If anyone has any questions about the recovery and or wants some tips on foods to eat and or things to keep you occupied just leave me a msg and I'll get back to you! I'm also in school to be a Health Care Aide.. So I can give some Fairly good advice!! Take Care Tonsils Times 2

Hello my fellow neighbour. I am from Winnipeg. Didn't think there was anyone else out there. Anyway I have had tonsilitis tons of times over the last 25 years and they have yet to remove them. They said they don't do the surgury unless they really have to. Totally sucks to be me but tonsils are not that big of deal to me anymore. Have fun eating your jello, ice cream and popsicles. I'm coming over just to veg out with you.

The time off was great! All I did was eat soups and jellos and puddings. Sometimes I think was it worth it? But if everything keeps going well then by far it was worth the pain and laying in bed for 3 weeks! I think your lucky that you never had to have them out, but then again if it needs to be done don't put if off. Did you know you can actually tell a doctor to do something? If they say they wont it's time to find a new doctor. Private msg me if you would like the name of my doctor from winnipeg. Do you still get sick and how often did you get it?

The time off is always nice. But I have been off for over 2 years and I am going nuts LOL. I wanna go back to work. I guess time will tell on that one. Yes I know you can tell doctors what to do. But I consulted with 2 different doctors and they said that it was necessary. I still get sick but not as often. When I had my knee surgury a few years back from the tube in my throat it irrated them and quite bad too. I was getting throat and tonsil infections every month.
