What will do if this happens to you?

Ok, it's about a young teacher and a badly-spoilt girl. I've learned the story from the news. A young lady has just begun her career as a teacher in a high rated kindergarten in which many kids are from very rich families. One day, a girl refused to eat lunch and the teacher went over to persuade her. When she bent over and gave her the meal, the little girl suddently slapped her in the face, acting like an adult, a very sophiscated slap. The young teacher was shocked. As a teacher, she couldn't slap back or shouted at the little girl. What she could do was to tell her that it was wrong and to ask her to apologize. But the girl refused and said,"It's no big deal. My parents will give you money for it." The teacher had no choice but to call her parents. However, when she told her parents everything, they just insincerely said sorry. And from their face, she could see that they were very proud of their daughter for being able to PROTECT herself. They didn't blame her at all. I think such kind of parents are ridiculous. I felt angry when hearing the story. But I don't know what I can do if such kind of thing happens to me. What do you think?

thats indeed ridiculous!...well, i am sure that the girl's parents will be taught a lesson for this, by their own girl, almost as soon as she grows up a little. for if the girl can slap her teacher, then she can surely disobey her parents when she has a little mind of her own. right now her parents may be happy to know the way their daughter "protects" herself, but this very attitude of their daughter will put her into much greater trouble, and "protection" will turn into defenseless!..parents like this are not at all rare..i guess with money some people even sell away their minds, and i think this is the case with these parents as well. respect to elders is one of the most important value that enables a person to become civilised, and if they are not teaching this to their child, then they ought to pay for it in future!

I agree with you. The girl will learn a lesson sooner or later, when she slap a "wrong" person. So will her parents. They will learn it from their daughter

you see now why the kids get away with so much today? poor parental guidance. too bad there was not a military draft for girls and boys because if we would have struck our training instructor it would not been a pretty sight. this is a simple case of assault and battery..if you strike anyone you have assaulted them ..can't something be done to protect the teachers or the aides? has our society sank to this level? i could never get away with this conduct while going to school and all i can see for this young person who did this is a life of bad social skills..it will she will soon strike the wrong person and what will the parents do when this little girl gets her little butt kicked? or worse not everyone is going to turn the cheek..believe me..i learned through going through the court system about assault and battery and i did far less then what this little girl did and it cost me money, time, and my pride. growing up were not allowed to do this to our authorities or to our parents or relatives..we could not even fight back if it was for our own good...but times are a changing and this is why our society is going to have a lot of problems controlling the peace as most families are now run by a single mother raising her kids alone...this could be an indication that the young people are not getting the proper training..

What a horrible story... However at least the parents apologized? I don't thinks she was trying to protect herself though...

Yeah, the little girl was not trying to protect herself when she slapped her teacher. But her parents thought that their daughter was brave and strong, cause she knew how to slap others. So it was more likely for the girl to bully others than to be bullied. That's what the word "protect" means here. Oh, I think this was a terrible terrible family.
