how LONG do you wish to LIVE?

With the recent development in science and medicine, it is possible that we can live to a hundred. I watched this Barbara Walter's show "The Centenarians". It was a show where all the people interviewed were all in their hundred years and they were doing a lot of normal things that normal people do. When I see normal... I mean our age range. These people are in their 100+ years and they are doing modeling, sky-diving, car-racing, ballroom dancing and working. I don't want to be morbid, but there are lots of people dying too. If you will be given a choice... how long would you want to live? If I will given a chance I want to live to a hundred too because there are lots of things that I still want to do. And if I will be blessed with a baby at my age now (43) I want to see her/him get married and have babies too.

Yes I have always loved the idea of living to 100. The changes through time that you would bear witness to would be amazing. There are some people in their 80's that are more active than a lot of people still in their 20's. Life is here to be lived and I love the way that some people don't allow age to be a barrier. My grandmothers are inspirational to me, both are well into their 80's and still very active. One even still helps the 'old' people go to the library or run errands! Naturally a long life is only beneficial if good health is present so if I am going to live for along time I hope my health can go the distance as well!

Of course, health is a major factor here. But with modern science everything is posible. thanks.

I forgot to mention that I would only like to be able to live to that age naturally. I do not necessarily believe in all this medical intervention. I agree it has it's place but I think there should be limitations in place. The world is over crowded enough without artificially extending lives.

If I am sure that I will still be strong and healthy by the age of 100, then I would love to live that long. But if in my old age, I would be sickly and weak, I would prefer to die early. I know my children love me, and I love them too. I would like them to be able to enjoy their own lives without being sad and worried about my health condition all the time when I am old.

I understand that. Yes, sickness and diseases are the main concerns of the elderly and you are right if you will be a burden to the people you love you rather not live that long. It is for their sake and for your own because it is not fun being sick. Thanks for the response. And welcome to myLot, hope you enjoy the site and have fun.
