He hates violence!

My sister's little puggle puppy, Meeko, hates violence. He sometimes doesn't understand what playing is though. We have always played a little rough in our house, like slapping and light punching. You know, what siblings do! We never hurt one another, and are always laughing through it all. Her puggle doesn't understand this though! Our other two dogs, Katie, the shepherd mix, and Virgo, the Pit Bull, both know when we are playing. Meeko can't get it through his head, and yesterday, I felt the pain of that little yappy jaw. We were flicking one another, my younger sister and I, and laughing about it. Meeko jumped up and clamped his little jaw onto my elbow. He didn't break the skin or anything, but he did manage to bite right at the elbow joint, which was very painful! I have a bump there now, and it's quite sore and bruised, the little mutt. Do your dogs go crazy when your playing rough with someone else, or when there's violence?

My dog used to, if she saw my hubby messing around with me play fighting she used to go mad, thinking that he was hurting me. A couple of times she bit him and drew blood, but the thing was is she was badly abused as a pup and by a man too and so she just did not understand. Plus I saved her and so she would lay her life down for me, but she was a big dog and so when she bit you felt it. Sadly she is no longer with me, but she was a good dog.

Yeah my dogs does that as well, even though my brothers and I are just messing around for fun. I guess it's a natural thing for a dog to try and protect the flock, even from itself. :)

I have noticed that most dogs will do this! It is good to be protected, even if there was never a threat! If you have ever seen young puppies together, siblings, they do play fight among themselves! The mother dog will also use whatever means necessary to control them, although she usually knows they are only playing and learning to defend themselves! It is possible that your sister's puppy is only trying to join in the fun, and that is the only way he can do it!

Well, I'm quite sure that he isn't playing. He usually plays pretty rough himself, but we know when he is just trying to be protective, because he usually growls before he attacks us when we're playing with one another. He doesn't like anyone touching my sister.

I just thought maybe that was it! I do know that dogs will protect their master.
