I must first apologise for not being here at mylot for such a long time. Indeed my heart was here but whenever I got on line I had to research and study and now I am still trying to complete a research but thought that since this topic affects all of us no matter what nation of the world, or country we belong to, each one would have something valid and of importance to say. I have learned that the oil crisis has affected and still is affecting many nations. I can come close to home here in Jamaica and see and feel the ripple effects. We have been told that basic food items will increase by 3%. Civil servants were promised an increase in salary of about 22% but with food prices hiking higher than the salary how in God's name can we live off a budget like this, taking into consideration that 50% of my salary goes back into tax to the government. Personally, this looks very hard for the future but as I always say GOd will provide and He is in control so there is no need to worry. Anyway what about you? What is it like in your country? Is is the same, better or worse? If it is better please invite me over for a month! Hahaha! Until then friends, take care and God bless!

first welcome back. with costs rising, it is a difficult time. Yes there looks to be a hard road ahead.I just got a letter in the mail today about the fact they will be increasing our electric bill. All we can do is take it a day at a time.

the petrol price is really a world-wide problem, not only in developed countries like USA, but also in developing countries like South Africa and China, i think it actually impacts more in developing countries, since the pays here are much lower than developed countries and the inflation is higher and faster here. I had a car but had to sell it because the petrol price and now i have a scooter only. i had this scooter about 2 years ago, and i remembered putting a full tank would be only R20, then it went to R25, R30 and now is a R45 i am sure with the new high in crude oil price, it will soon hit R100...

We too have that problem and not only that but the oil price increase has also affected our fares. Taxi fares have increased and so will everything else and my salary as a Government worker is not receiving the icnrease needed to balance off these hikes in prices.

it seems as if we are all sailing in the same boat in our countries due to the oil increase

couldnt agree with you more. The pay here is rising so small that is unsignificantly, and the taxi fares are rising so fast that you think the drivers are lying...

First of all, I am glad to see you again! As for oil prices...It is said that there is talk of the truckers going on strike here in Canada (Ontario) to rebel against the hike in gas prices....In doing so, our food costs will also increase! It will be disasterous here this summer I am afraid if things continue to go the way they are now!!!! ~Heavens~
