I think the one who handles the money well is best in terms of budgeting. It can be the wife, the husband, or if luck, both. In the family, taking care of the family budget must be given to the one who handles it best. If in case both are good at it, they can always share the responsibility.

wow..wonderful point of view..thanks steney! Traditionally, when it comes to budgeting we always think of a girl but nowadays, role in every society can be played by both sexes whoever deserves and knows best!

Well my hubby use to be the budgeter but has kind of lapsed over the last few months so I have now taken over our budget and only spend what we need. Trying to save some $$ for an emergency fund for if and when we need it.

In my house my husband pays all the bills, for well, that is one task I have always hated. However it helps that neither one of us is big spenders. We buy stictly what we need, and content with that. So we never had the need to have a "budget" or as some would say, an allowance to be able to spend.

In our home budgeting is split between the 2 of us. We both have our strong points. My husband takes care of our monthly bills untilities, mortgage, groceries, clothes for the boys, things like that. He's a bargain hunter and always finds the best deals to save us money. I take care of our savings, 401k, IRA, & trust funds. My husband doesn't really understand how they work differently and why it's important to put a greater percentage of our income into one than the other. We have been married 5 years and we have never fought over money. One thing I know that definatly helps is that we have seperate checking accounts. We contribute equally to everything that is family related, but when we want to splurge on ourselves(say he wants a attend a race or I want new clothes) we never ask each other for money, we spend our own. It's worked out great for us.

mostly the person who able to manage finacial very well is a wife cause she more involves with needing of household than a husband cause most of time a husband like to go out side than stay at home. but we also can't neglect that in some case a husband able to manage money and budgeting rather than wife. i think its kind of skills and in my opinion either husband and wife, they have the same right to manage the household financial in good way

My hubby cannot budget for anything. He is horrible with money but before we got together he still lived at home made good money and could blow it every paycheck with no responsibility or worries. Now he is waking to the reality of BILLS! Its a huge change in lifestyle.

It is without a doubt me! My husband is absolutely useless with money and he gets me really really cross how careless he is with it. So I am in charge of all the money that comes into the house and I take care of all the bills, shopping and savings just so that we are not penniless. This year I have become even more stricter with the budgeting as there are things now that I want to save up for, so we are all on strict allowances!

wow..I wish I will be like you soon in that area..lol, but honest now that I dont have income I am really learning. way back in my Country, every pay day I use to just hang out in the mall and spend and spend..It ends up I didnt have saving working for several year! which is totally bad!

My husband was a diseaster whenit came to money matters and I became the designated driver for all sorts of money matters so I wrote out the checks for the bills and balanced the joint account and called for info on these matters not that I really wanted to but I got the job by default.lol

Hi checapricorn. I say whose best at it should be the one to do it. I do most of the budgeting in our household but in some instances my bf takes over. He's a lot better than me in getting our bills paid on time. And he's better at sticking to our monthly budget, i sometimes go over. I think as long as you get an imput in money matters with your husband let him have the headache of balancing the budget.

I think that whom is more capable of handling money is dependent on schooling and self training or discipline. The wife is no less then the husband when it comes to this, nor is the husband more superior. I myself am currently "budgeting" with my fiance as we are still in the learning stages of handling money.

I like to think that I am the best at the finances and keeping hold of the money, but even I tend to have relapses sometimes.
