I was responding to one of my friends topic and I get red warning from Mylot. “Response contains more than the maximum allowed MyLotCode Emotes. Max is 3”.... Am I too emotional?.... Are you? Do you think that society is always teaching us to hide our emotions?..... What Mylotcode do you use the most?

Hello polachicago!:-) I think being emotional is natural, at least in feelings if not in expression, to be otherwise is otherwise! Wisdom would suggest that while it's natural to have feelings and emotions, it's not advisable to give into one emotion too much. How much is too much is subjective though. I am, personally, always happy! , and always sad! . How this is possible? ask yourself! I normally use 'happy' here and have occasionally used 'lol' and rarely !

Hello there sweetie. I think that I love to use this emote pretty much: . I just love the outlook there, don't know why. By the way, to answer your question on this, I think that society has made people more scared to show their emotions. This is my personal view. I see some of my female friends and some male friends too, they are scared to show their emotions, lest people label them as being 'emo' (short for emotional) and also a cry-baby. In Singapore, at least, they have this kind of stiff-upper lipped type of behavior, and it's kind of worrying me for what the future generation would be like. I love to behave the way I feel, but if I say something, people might not like to hear that. So I put on a facade and I just say what they want to hear sometimes. I find that true too here in mylot. When some people do not allow voices to be heard and views to be pointed out. But I'm no different and sometimes have fallen victims to circumstances. What is best is that life is a journey and everyday is a learning process for me. I would love to pursue studies in psychology or something; it would be a great stepping stone for me, since I'm pretty bored with Engineering line already. Have a great day, sweet.

In Europe people don’t smile often. I call it “boring European expression”. Models are not allowed to be happy. When you see model pictures, they want to look like moody teenagers. You can always change or add new study field. I have degree in 3 separate and different fields.

I think I'm a very, very emotional person. I'd like to think people see me as a very empathetic person--well, and I guess they do because I'm the one they usually come to when they just want to talk. And I'm not afraid to break down and cry with someone if they're going through a difficult time or laugh right along with them if they are at a joyous point in their lives. I for one am sooooo looking forward to getting those last couple posts I need so I can start using those cute little smileys. It is sort of a bummer and inhibiting that we can only use three per post though. Sometimes, I just think being able to throw in a couple smiley faces can enhance a message. They just seem to do more for me than having to resort to the 'old school' emoticons. I'm just going to guess that when I'm finally able to use the emoticons here, my faves will be (I'll give the abbreviations since I can't do them yet): doh, cool, and rasp. Oh, and I don't know exactly how I'd make him fit into most discussions I've seen or replied too, but I just have to love the ninja! lol

I am by nature , very emotional and really get carried away by the force of my emotions. Reason takes a back seat many times. I wish to change this and be balanced and uninvolved and unperturbed but I find it difficult. Right from my childhood I have said to have a transparent face and I wish to be less transparent. Society , does teach us to hide emotions-I feel this is why--- Many people who constitute this society hide their emotions and do plenty of lip service. Such an attitude would naturally beget a counter similar attitude. I do not use any my lot code at all.

You've lost me. How can being too emotional be a bad thing, unless the emotion is rage or anger, and knowing you polachicago. I know that wouldn't be the case.

Pola! We all who are here (means who are your friends) are all 'emotional'!!! If we were not 'emotional' we had not been here. Mylot code does help us express our emotions in a better way...but the limitation of using three codes, restrict us expressing our entire gamut of emotions. Moreover, we do not have any other way to express our emotions, except mylot code. I use 'smiley' face and 'thumps up' most of the time.

oh i didnt know that there was a limit for the emoticons. and its only 3? i thought that it was 5 or 6 coz 3 is few, in my opininon. i occasionally use emoticons, but not in all of my responses. well i dont really know about society since this is a free world anyway but sometimes its better to hide your emotions once in a while and only tell it to other people when it really starts to bother you or you just wanna vent. but clearly, mylot teaches us to hide our emotions by limiting the # of emoticons used to only 3! LOL

I am too emotional, I cry at movies, at TV programs, at school assemblies, at the national anthem performances, and on and on. I agree we're supposed to conform to a standard of behavior too. Men don't cry, when you get old you don't skip and play - well you can, but you get a look for sure, if you get confrontational, you're wrong to do it. My favorite code is !! I don't use it much, but it's definitely my favorite. I use and the most.

I too have gone over the limit and got the red warning. So of course I had to delete two. I guess I am too emotional at that but I sort of like the little smiley things.I think it is kind of fun to add to myfeelings on something with a few emoticons. I think I use the lol one the most.

I believe I am too emotional. I just can't help myself. Sometimes when I watch some movies and people cry it makes me cry. I just don't know what it is that makes me start crying. I guess I am a bit emotional. I try not to let it show, cause its funny cause my little brother knows when the movie is dealing with someone crying he would turn around and look at me and say, "Don't do it..." But it would happen. Oh well, some people just get a little emotional.
