Amazon's dirty tricks

Amazon recently announced that they will remove the "buy" button from any POD published book not printed by BookSurge Amazon's own POD publisher. This is bad news for small presses and independent authors alike. Most small press publishing companies use a POD service such as BookSurge or LightingSource (LSI) to print their books, and independent authors who use services such as lulu.com or iUniverse are also using POD publishing services. Now I am sure that some of you are reading this are saying, so what, just use BookSurge, BookSurge is considerably more expensive the LSI and the quality is reported to be much lower.
There is no question that for a small press to survive Amazon is pretty much a necessity, this move by Amazon is nothing but a blatant attempt to make BookSurge a monopoly in the POD world.
A petition has been started online here http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/protectPOD/?e to stop this practice. I urge everyone to add their name and file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau

I usually prefer smaller independent bookstores anyways, but there are so few left. Amazon was handy because they sold just about anything, however with this announcement I might just have to switch to B&N as my book supplier for small press and indie books.
